FAREWELL CYBERLOVE

 The world is much darker
without your letters on my screen
And I can’t figure out
what this silence means.
Maybe you just got busy
And had to work overtime
Maybe you had a virus
 & couldn’t get online.

Perhaps your Missus stumbled
on my friendly little note
She said she would leave you
if you got online & wrote
Or what if something awful happened
And you’re laying in a hospital bed
How would I ever know
If an accident left you dead?

Or else you just decided
I was a waste of time
You found another penpal
who could write a better line
I’m so glad I was careful
to guard the way I feel
I’m going to the bar tonite
to look for someone who is real.
