No Use For Goodbye

She gets up in the morning
About an hour before dawn
She forgets to feed the kitty
She leaves the coffeemaker on
She shuts the door so quietly
And down the road she flies
So glad she’s made her getaway
Without having to say goodbye.

Cause there’s no use for goodbyes,
There’s no use for goodbyes.
They’ll just make you miserable They'll just make you cry
Just pretend he was in an accident
And that he suddenly died.
Cause it’s better to eat a bucket of nails
Than to have to say goodbye.

O Grandma’s in a nursing home
You’ll never see her again.
And Daddy’s leaving the kids behind
And getting on a plane
He’ll soon become a memory
That’ll gently fade away
And you won’t have to say the things
You didn’t want to say.

She looks under the table
A paper catches her eye
She starts to read the words
And then she starts to cry.
Goodbye he wrote and thanks
For letting me stay there one last time
I’m sorry that I didn’t get
A chance to say goodbye.
