"HEROES"
The worship of a childhood hero,
The sheer joy of blind faith,
The unearned, never dying loyalty
Do not fade when entering adulthood.
There is something in the heart
|
< 2 >
That refuses to relinquish that hold,
The love that spawns the belief
That our heroes can do no wrong.
With maturity comes the knowledge
That the hero is only human,
Capable of weakness like ourselves.
Heroes love,
they cry,
they make mistakes.
|
|
|
< 3 >
They feel joy and sorrow
and loneliness,
Yet they remain
our heroes still.
Recognizing their faults
only makes greater
The tie that binds
within our hearts.
To know the flaws
of the person
|
< 4 >
And still feel them worthy
Of your loyalty,
love and trust
Only makes their worth greater,
Their pedestal
one step higher,
So forever our heroes
they remain.
