Note: I have not included 2 graves that are not Cavetts nor connected
to them that are also here. There were several unmarked graves in this
large plot and several graves marked with unlettered fieldstones. This
cemetery has been sadly neglected for many years and all the box tombs
have fallen in. The inscriptions are on the lids and are becoming so
weathered they will be impossible to read in a few years. This cemetery
lies at the edge of a thick forest and is overgrown so as to resemble a
jungle.
J. Richard Cavett entered and settled this property in 1809 as one of
Madison County's first pioneer settlers.
