    "Category: Personal GeoCities Utilities"
  1. [Q] Is there a way to conveniently backup my files to my hard disk drive, so that in the event GeoCities goes down I will have the ability to recover them? (Please consider GeoPlus sub-directories, too!)
    From: John B. Moss
[A] Please post a response if you have the answer.

  2. [Q] How can I find out that my guest book has been signed (without my having to review it daily)? Anybody know of a utility that does this, or a technique of coding (a Java applet)? (Please consider GeoPlus guest books, too!)
    From: John B. Moss
[A] If you go to Netmind you can register the url of your guestbook, at http://www.netmind.com/html/register.html. It will detect whenever it has changed. Whenver there is a change detected, it will send you an e-mail , which btw you can customize. This is done by means of a web bot, it simply goes surfing from page to page that is in its register, looking for changed pages.

    "Category: Graphics "
  1. [Q] Where can I find a tool that will enable me to map a graphics image I've created?
    From: John B. Moss
[A] Take a look at the 'Mapedit' utility available at ftp://ftp.boutell.com/pub/boutell/mapedit. The procedure calls for completing a form describing the images you wish to map, then 'Mapedit' creates the HTML code for you!
