I Saw God

A Poem by Kaye Cunningham

I took a walk this morning and you know what I spied
as I paused beside the path and breathed a grateful sigh?

I saw God this morning in every step I took,
in every little flower, in the bubbling of the brook.
I saw God this daybreak with a stretch of His Glorious hands,
as the new sun rose in the gentle east, a streak of brillant bands.

I saw God this sunrise and heard a whispered note
from every tiny creature, of them is who He wrote.
I saw God this dawning and joined with Him to pray
as every single lifeforce awakened to the day.

I saw God this morning. Did you stop to pause and see?
Would you? Could you? For just a moment? Would you come with me?
He is here, just gaze and smile at the Glory of His works,
He welcomes you with each new day, in All is where He lurks.

I saw God this morning, and breathed a grateful sigh
for all the beauty He bestows upon this wishful eye.
