The Lowly Sparrow

A Poem by
   S. Allen Wilner
   01/1972

What rare virtue
Do we ascribe to the Bluebird
Who, by chance of birth
Wears a coat of favored blue.
The lowly sparrow goes unsung
In coat of duller hue.
So ‘tis with men
We judge them by a smile,
An air, a noble look
While others go unsung
In coats of duller hue.
