A Poem by Camille L. Harris
20 September 1997

Do you believe in predestination...
Somewhere, amongst the stars, of supernatural selection...
I believe in choice - before consciously seeking.
The best match for me is always within reach.
I see myself as more than a body or mind--
A spirit once free, now only given to roam at dream time.
I feel I was a star amongst the stars and I had to choose
Where I would be born, what time, and to who.
I chose you as my father. You accepted me, then
I was born your little mink -- you are my father and my friend.
Today, I join this mass to celebrate your wonderful day,
This day Grandma, peace to her, gave life to my daddy.
You've lived Fifty marvelous years, not posh but not bad.
You've stuck around for all of us, and for that I'm glad.
Happy Birthday, dad.
