The Sea's Secret
The sea rolled in, its
cobalt tide
Uncovering the secrets
that wished to hide
Some crabs, some shells,
which gleamed of light
And the corpse of the
man who'd died of fright
For on this beach many
eons ago
There lived an evil no
man could know
A tangible madness, insanity
in skin
A creature which thrived
on corruption and sin
This creature had not
large fangs and claws
Nor did it adhere to nature's
laws
It was simple and diverse,
unique and the same
Yet despite its abilities
received little fame
Men had sought to slay
the beast
But none escaped; became
its feast
It did not eat their flesh
and bone
It ate the soul left flesh
alone
For centuries it fed on
wayward men
Who longed to find adventure
again
For the days of dragons
and wizards were passed
And the creature that
lived by the sea was the last
And the bones of the man
who'd died of fright
Were pulled by the sea
into the night
And men still came, by
foot and wagon
To be eaten by Puff, the
Magic Dragon
