All of the ducks pictured below, and the owl,  were carved from either basswood or pine. The feathers were first carved in and then detailed with the woodburner.  There is no paint on them at all.

The Pelican was carved from a piece of a root. ( type of tree unknown). The parrot was carved from pine, they were then sealed and finished with several coats of clear shoe polish.

All of the birds were carved from pine or basswood and painted with acrylics.
