A Year in Ho Chi Minh City

I have just finished my first month in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I have found a home, a red bicycle and a couple of people I can call my friends.

I have been robbed by people on the roads, and nurtured by families on my street. I have been admired and scorned, sometimes in the same breath. This city is filled with poverty and dires straits bring out the people we really are. Some resort to robbing, others resort to begging, and many smile at the new day they have been given, pull themselves up by the boot straps and do the best they can for their families and the survival of their own spirits.

I have really been blessed to experience this place and share the lives of these people.

On these pages I will post thumbnails of photos of places I explore and people I meet while I am here.

These were taken last week, Novemeber 11-13. My friends and I took a mini-break to Pahn Thiet and stayed at Heip Hoa Resort on Mui Ne beach. There are very few tourists there and the beach itself has only a few resorts, which meant the only sounds we heard were the waves and the dogs barking at us intruders.

a really lovely way to escape the hectic pace of the City, which is sometimes so noisy you can't remember the sound of your own thoughts.
