OUTINGS
Outings are held every month at a venue with photographic appeal, where members not only have the opportunity to capture stunning images, but also to learn from each other, sharing the joys and frustrations of photography, while getting to know each other better. These meetings take place over a single morning, afternoon or evening. Some interesting excursions have visited photolabs, photographers sessions, darkrooms, parks, race meetings, craft locations, the harbour, yachtmole and nature reserves to name a few.
Social full day outings and weekend outings are undertaken quarterly and are well attended. Some of the highlights have been weekends away to Glengarry Resort in the lower Berg and a time share weekend away to Margate on the Natal South Coast. Game reserves are always popular, especially Hluwhluwe and Umfolozi for weekends and Itala and Stainbank for the single day outings.

CLUB JUDGING
To prevent the Westville Camera Club becoming set in its ways; we vary the judging format randomly throughout the year, alternating between single judge, 3 judge and in house judging. Emphasis is placed on creativity whilst adherence to technical excellence is strongly encouraged. We do not believe that we have found the ideal judging format; but while the storm of dissention rolls on, the Westville Camera Club remains open minded to new, innovative ideas on ways to apply the principles of fair play to the judging systems, whilst maintaining a realistic, logistically practical mode of assessing our member's efforts. Judges are drawn from both inside the Westville Camera Club, and from the surrounding area of Kwa-Zulu Natal. We are always actively involved in the training of potential judges within our ranks, and will continue to be actively involved with all efforts to improve and expand the scope of club judging in South Africa.
