Box from Video Tapes

What do you do when your video tapes are worn out? I don't like to throw things out and just had to come up with some use for them. My first use was the Video Tape Owl and now this:

Assemble Box

  • Take 5 video tapes and rewinds them or forward them so that there is about an equal amount of tape on each spool.
  • Cover each video tape with either a coating of paper maché or use paper masking tape.
  • Place the heavier tapes on the bottom and the wide sides.
  • Fasten together with double sided carpet tape and then cover with another layer of masking tape.

Decorate Box

  • Paint with black acrylic craft paint.
  • Draw design on black paint with a white pencil crayon.
  • Outline design with glue with a glue gun.
  • Paint with another coat of black paint.
  • Sponge paint with silver and then fill in the inside of the design with paint in whatever color you like.
  • Glue on feet (I used the smaller part of the inside from Kinder Surprise chocolates).
