i went hiking today with my son Adam -
we went to Red Fork Water Falls in Unicoi County,
TN this is one of our favorite places to go hiking -
i have been taking Adam overwhelmed as he - we found
Polypores,
Stalked Polypores,
Chanterelles,
Boletes,
after having gone there for so many years i had never
than i have ever found in many different from newly sprouted, to young, to well
developed, to wilted , to fully decomposed - Adam was surprised to find that some
considerably large ones, fat ones, and tall skinny ones - there were single insolated mushrooms,
and there since he was about 6 years old - about 3 years now - i have been hiking there since types as fast as he could - and i was just as assortments of identifications are from memory and are subject to speculation continued to find new and differnet types, and they were all in new and and discover on every trip
- this time we were especially looking for mushrooms - as we were walking in right away we noticed
an interesting places - some right out in the open, some hiding under rocks and tree stumps,
some jutting out of the side of a small cliff, or the side of some wooden formation - were larger than his hand, and i was likewise all my searching and seeking for fungi put together - i have only recently (in the last two years) been studying
mushrooms and fungi - and i have never before found such a plentiful multiplicity of fungi -
abundance of different types - the further we traveled the more we saw - there were small ones, running in every direction pointing out as surprised that some were larger than mine,
some of the specimens found, from what i remember and then clusters all around us -
Adam was less the last time i was there (which was about 4 months prior) and at that time i knew
all were in different stages of development - i was about 14 years old for about 20 years now - there is always something new to see Stinkhorns, and a variety of other gilled and coral- than i know now -
i am by no means an expert on fungi,
and fungi identification, just a mere
how much more one can appreciate such things with a little self taught knowledge
leading to the Falls we fomentarius, Gomphus floccosus, Marasmius siccus, and Ramariopsis kunzei - all of these looking in a book on fungi identification were : Trichoglossum hirsutum, Auricularia auricula, Fomes -
