Mandy
One day Mandy had been beaten by her husband for using just a ‘bit’ of magic to help her clean out the closet. The young woman fled in fear and frustration from the older man and sought refuge at the Wintercrest Inn. This came after a lifetime of being shunned and exiled by her family who had no tolerance for a girl who occasionally did unexplainable bits of what her family insisted must be a form of black magic. Her story of course, started long before that day. Mandy’s mother had died when the she was a mere 5 years old. When her father remarried, she was a ten year old little rebel. Wanting nothing to do with a new mother, she turned to her newly blossoming talents to make her life more bearable. Now, just to set the record straight, in no way were Mandy’s talents evil, black magic, or truthfully any other kind of magic. She had some telekinetic powers that allowed her to move things with out touching them. Because her step mother despised the girl, these powers were used to keep her locked up, away from polite society where she grew up as little more than a servant. It is also the reason Mandy has little formal education. In reading, writing, or other more womanly arts. Time past by. Mandy grew to be a lovely young woman. Though without the normal social contacts, she never had the chance to meet a handsome young man, fall in love, and live happily ever after. Instead, at the old maidish age of 24, she was giving in marriage to a man of 50 who sought a new young wife in the hopes of finally having a son after the death of his first wife who only had given him two daughters. |
This man was Morgan Dare. He was a butcher. Probably not such a bad guy, but he was a friend of Mandy’s father. He knew of her upbringing and had been told that Mandy was more than a bit irrational. So, having little to do with the raising of his own children and perhaps not being the best husband the first time, Morgan Dare had quickly made Mandy’s life miserable. Hence, Mandy ran away and soon found herself with a job as a barmaid. Managed with the help of her new friends to divorce her husband and now makes her own way in the world |
