TO LADY DIANA
THE PRINCESS OF WALES

by

Alice Bateman

If I could write you a letter in Heaven
Here's what I think it would say
That your absence has made my heart sadder
And I've missed you, every day

If I could write you a letter in Heaven
This might be the way it would sound
The world is a grimmer, less colourful place
Because you're no longer around

We miss you, Diana
You were a friend
To one billion people, or two

We love you, Diana
And now that you're gone
What is this poor world to do?

We poison each other and poison ourselves
Our children and even our pets
We're killing ourselves and calling it pleasure
With nasty things like cigarettes

We needed you, Di
And you've gone away
And no one could e'er take your place
At the front of the crowd
In this silly old world
Of this silly old, sad human race

Written in loving tribute to Lady Diana Spencer, her Royal Highness

The Beautiful Princess of Wales
