Highway

by

connie brousseau

A highway not taken
The path leading the wrong way
Dark to light
Light to dark
Easy now may make rough later
Too fast to be speeding
Too slow for me to keep up
Cars coming by
I slowly walk
Trying to catch up
While all my friends
And family are going fifty times faster
The highway keeps growing
Longer and longer
Wider and wider
Looking out along the empty road
Feeling lost and all alone
No one around for miles
A road to no where
A highway to get home
Or is it a trick
Maybe something unknown
My way to heaven
Could be hell
Never too sure
Could be a spell
I've heard and seen many things
But the most unsure
The highway I'm traveling...
The roads unseen
