Font is Hofstra University's literary magazine. It was first published 5 years ago by and for the students of Hofstra. You don't need to be an english student to submit, and we accept all forms of literature and art. We publish everything from screenplays to poetry, from photographs to ink drawing. We put out a magazine twice a year; once in the fall and once in the spring. Click on anything below to find out more about a certain topic.

Subscribing to
Font



Font is published twice a year. The only place to pick up Font is at Hofstra, unless you subscribe to it, in which case, it conveniently gets sent wherever you want it to. Fun, right? We thought so, too.
Font is seven dollars for a year's subscription. As of now, we don't have a way to submit on the web, but you can write to us at:

Joining Font



    To join Font, you have to be a student at Hofstra. If you are an incoming freshman, you can attend the club fair and sign up at our booth. If you want to join, but you're not an incoming student, you can do one of two things:
    1. Wait until you see our booth in the student center, and sign up there.
    2. Come visit us in room 201 of the Student Center.
    As a member of Font, you are encouraged to attend all meetings and participate in the process of selecting works for the magazine.

    Submitting to
    Font



      If you are a Hofstra student, you can also submit to Font. You do not have to be a memeber; we welcome submissions from anyone and everyone. There's no page or content restriction, but just keep in mind that we are a University sponsored organization. Here's a brief list of things that we print:
      • Art (If it's a drawing, we prefer that you use ink)
      • Plays
      • Photograhs
      • Poetry
      • Prose (Short stories, excerpts from larger works, etc.)
      • Screenplays
      The submissions are read aloud at weekly meetings and are voted on by Font members. The number of submissions we accept varies from year to year. Keep checking back to find out when submissions for the Fall 1998 issue will be accepted.

      Exhanging Magazines and Information


        If you are a member of another literary magazine, University funded or otherwise, we would like to extend the offer of an information exchange. We would greatly appreciate a copy of your magazine for our library, and we would be happy to send a copy of ours. If you would like to include any additional information, such as how you are run, what you accept, etc, or if you would like to know anything else about us, please include that as well.
