A Friend.
Being a nice guy for twenty years now. I have come to resent four words in my life. They are " Your my best friend." Like, all nice guys I fear these words, and often try to forget that they were ever said to me. It wasn't until a couple weeks ago that I realized what it means to be a friend. I feel that now after my most resent discovery that it is in fact easier to be a lover than it is to be a friend.
The reason being is that as a lover you are able to express your feelings through a more physical and mental way. It is not just the fact that you can show the way you feel through sex. But, more to the certainty that you can say "I love you" to the person without them looking down on you. Even the fact that when you say "I love you" to your friend they almost always find it funny and think that you are joking with them. This is one of the hardest things about just being a friend. Being a lover is easy and anyone can do it. But, it takes a very special person to be a friend. Because, a friend can't always show their feelings towards the other person. A friend is bonded to you with trust and an unseen love. A friend is there to listen and share thoughts. And, most of all a friend is there when the lovers are all gone and the tears of hostility and raged have all been shed.
So, the next time a person says, "Your my best friend." Look them straight in the eyes and then give them a big hug and say "Your my best friend too!" Because, lovers come and go, but, friends last forever.
