Anne Elizabeth Uttley was born in Waterloo, Ontario on January 7, 1891. She was the first child of Nathan R.Uttley and Mary (Nee Kircher).
Birth Record of Anne Elizabeth Uttley
The Ontario Birth Archive records (film B107 1891 #039214)
     Date: 7 January 1891, Waterloo
     Name: Anna Elizabeth
     Sex: F
     Father: Nathan Uttley, Hostler
     Mother: Anna Kircher
     When reg: 12 Feb 1891
     Accoucheur: none
- the 1901 Census gives the same date of birth for Annie, but gives Elmira as the location. I see no reason for Elmira unless, perhaps, Mary's parents lived in Elmira.
- there was no obstetrician (not that one was not recorded, there was none).
- the fact that the mother's given name is listed as 'Anna' ratherthan 'Mary' is just a clerical error.
The 1901 Census lists Annie as the only child of Nathan R. and Mary. There were at least four other children, but none survived. Her father, Nathan R. dies December 7, 1910 and his obituary lists Annie as his only child.
The next reference to Annie is as a witness to her cousin Henrietta's marriage. Henrietta Warley had been adopted by her grandfather Nathan [Sr.] after her mother, Mary Jane Warley (nee Uttley), died in 1901. The Ontario Marriage Archive records (microfilm M178 1911 #015299) --
Date: 18 July 1911, Berlin, Ont

                Annie Elizabeth Uttley, Waterloo, Ont
By: J.W.J. Andrew, rector, St. John's Ch Berlin
- I could find no newspaper report of this marriage in the Berlin News Record or the Berlin Daily Telegraph.
- the spelling of the given and surname of the bride varies. On one page in the archive she is Heneritte Warele and Heneritte Warly. Nathan [Sr.] spells it Henrietta Warley in his will.
- who is Marion Uttley, the bride's mother? It could be her real mother Mary Jane, but it could be someone else.
- as Elise has noted, we have seen the name Wolfe before. Nathan R.'s first wife was Mary Ann Wolfe, daughter of Andreas and Sarah Wolfe.

- Bruce found no newspaper reports of this wedding either.
- same minister as Henrietta, so it must be St. John's Anglican church as well.
- their headstone shows that Jacob Kreiner was born April 23, 1841 and died January 20, 1915; his wife Margaret Schmidt was born October 28, 1856 and died January 26, 1938.
Death Record of Anne Elizabeth Uttley
That's all on Annie until her death on April, 4 1963. The Deaths column of the K-W Record read:
     KREINER, Mrs. Annie Elizabeth,
        22 Pequegnat Ave., 72 years.
and the obituary:
     Mrs. Annie Kreiner
Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Kreiner,72, of 22 Pequegnat Ave.
died early today at her home after a brief illness.
She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Uttley of Waterloo and the last surviving member of the family.
Mrs. Kreiner lived in the Twin Cities all her life and was a member of St. John's Anglican Church.
He[r] husband, Theodore, whom she married in 1912, died in 1955.
Surviving are one son, Arthur K.; three daughters, Mrs. Howard (Maude) Rudy, Margaret and Ethel, and one granddaughter, all of Kitchener.
The body is at the Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home where service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday by Archdeacon F. Gwynne Lightbourn. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Burial Records
She is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery (Kitchener section) beside her husband. Her marker reads "Anne E. Uttley/1891-1963" and his "Theodore G. Kreiner/1891-1955".
Henrietta Warley Uttley's marriage record indicates her mother was 'Marion Uttley'. Who was this Marion? Perhaps her mother 'Mary Jane' was also a 'Marion'. Henrietta had been formally adopted by Nathan [Sr.] before he died in 1903 so could Marion be her grandmother, Mary Ann Delena Maude? This is most unlikely as there are lots of references to her grandmother and every one of them is as 'Mary'.
Annie Elizabeth and Henrietta were close in age. Annie was a witness at Henrietta's wedding. It is very possible that Henrietta went to live at Nathan R.'s house after Nathan Sr. died in 1903, that Annie Elizabeth and Henrietta became like sisters and that the 'Marion' listed as the mother is Mary Kercher. This Mary was known as Marion/Marian when she marries a half year later.
