Let's talk about this Volunteer thing!

It's one thing for someone to enjoy helping his fellow man for pay; its another thing to be compelled to do it without compensation, or really any recognition to speak of. Most people do not realize the impact medics and firefighters have on their lives until they are in death's arms, or experience a tragedy such as a house fire or cardiac arrest. By then, the only thing that matters is survival. That is what we specialize in!

Anyway, the point of all this is, our entire department is comprised of 25 people who are all-volunteer. We all have our other lives, and that is what kinda makes it different from most. We don't have to do any of it. It is a calling of the highest order. We do not do this for praise or glory, but for an inner satisfaction that few can appreciate!

Paid or not, we're dedicated to first-class patient care!

What if you called and heard this?
