General Guidelines Regarding Committees And Committee Personnel:
- Committee members shall be Subscribing Members of the Wisconsin Section, Southeast
Branch. (Subscribing Members are members of all grades who subscribe to the Constitution
and Bylaws of the Southeast Branch and who have paid the current dues of the Branch.)
- Annually the President shall appoint chairmen of each Standing, Ad-Hoc and Joint
Representation Committee. In so doing the President shall consult with chairmen regarding
their continuing or their successors and regarding members to serve on their committees.
New committee chairmen should generally be selected from the previous year's committee
personnel. It is advisable for the Chairman to appoint a vice-chairman.
- In making committee personnel appointments, consideration shall be given to factors
pertinent to the specific committee and the overall Branch committee structure. These
factors include grade of membership in the Society, area of practice and expertise,
interest and ability, and past performance.
- Where the number of members serving on committees has been specified, it shall be deemed
advisory rather than required. Committees may be larger or smaller as necessary.
- Each Standing Committee shall have a member from the Board of Directors who shall be
designated Board Contact Member. The Board Contact Member shall not serve as committee
chairman and shall be responsible for reporting Committee activities to the Board. Board
Contact Members, not predesignated in the Committee Handbook, shall be appointed by the
President with confirmation by the Board of Directors.
- Ad-Hoc and Joint Representation Committees shall report to the President.
- Administrative procedures shall be prepared for all Standing Committees as an aid to
their operations.
- Annually, Standing Committees shall adopt, with the counsel of the President, specific
goals for achievement during the year. A report on achievement and activities, together
with recommendations for the coming year, shall be submitted by the committee chairmen to
the Secretary at the end of the year.
