Latest News:

Update: May 3rd, 1998:This comes from Dark Horizons:Two juicy bits of info today. Firstly, Wes Craven revealed on BBC1 that when he suggested to writer Kevin Williamson about staging "Scream 2" in L.A. and shooting certain scenes on Hollywood Boulevard, Williamson replied "That's the idea for the third one, okay!". Meanwhile, 'The Scream King' says that in a recent interview with Williamson, he supposedly revealed that the script for "Scream 3" is halfway complete, Neve Campbell had indeed signed onboard, and so has "Days of our Lives" actress Christie Clark. Clark expressed interest in being in the third installment after meeting Williamson at the premiere of "I Know What You Did Last Summer".

NEVE CAMBELL IS NOT GOING TO BE IN SCREAM 3????!!!!

DETAILS BELOW

Update: Friday, July 2nd, 1998: This is from Dark Horizons also: The worst may have happened. Ireland Film & TV Net conducted a recent interview with Neve Campbell who slipped in a shocker - she won't be in "Scream 3" (it was suspected she might not sign, but people thought she would anyway). When asked about the third installment in the franchise, she replied "I'm sure Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two scripts, will make a great job of it, but it's just that fear I have of being typecast. I've really enjoyed these first two movies, and I'm very proud of them, but I think I could easily become 'that girl from the Scream movies' if I stuck around for the third installment. I'm not doing Scream 3 because I don't want to end up being typecast, that's all. It's a career decision, not a personal one". Compiled on top of this report comes a scoop from 'Zeo12345' who hears that Courteney Cox may not want to return for a big part in "Scream 3". According to a source, Courteney's character, Gale Weathers, is apparently set to be killed near the beginning of the film.

GOOD NEWS, OR BAD? READ BELOW:

Update: July 5th, 1998: Here comes more news from Dark Horizons: A source named 'Informant' close to Wes Craven says that no casting decisions on the third film have been made at all as yet. It does quelch those rumors that have sprung up almost immediately after that Liv Tyler was going to replace Campbell (Tyler may still be considered an option though if Campbell doesn't return). Also the rumoured casting of Christie Clark, Jason London, Reese Witherspoon, Christina Carpenter & an Alicia Silverstone cameo are not true (one or more might be on the consideration list, though no-one has signed yet). As for Cox, the rumors are not affected by what was stated, we know she is very likely to be in it - the question is how long?. Finally, the Neve Campbell-departure rumour has really hotted up, though some info today makes it look as though she has changed her mind. Those comments she gave were her words in an interview for the Ireland Film & TV Net magazine. Unless they are lying (which is doubtful because Campbell would sue their ass), she seemed at that time quite assured she didn't want to do the third film. The thing is though that the interview in question was published three weeks ago, so things may have changed in the last month. This seems to have been indicated today as The Site of Scream reports that they have managed to sneak a peek at an apparent memo from Neve's publicist to the head of her Official Fan Club saying she has just signed onboard the third film.

Craven gets cut???

Update: August 4th, 1998: This comes from Dark Horizons, also: Craven gets cut? A hot rumour springing up today is that Director Wes Craven will make a small cameo in the third film of the "Scream" trilogy, and of course get a very brutal treatment by 'Father Death' very quickly. Also during a recent interview, Jamie Kennedy apparently slipped in a remark indicating he will be making a cameo in "Scream 3", though in what capacity is unknown (he died in S2 after all).

Update, FINALLY!

Update: December 13th, 1998: It's been a while since I've updated, but nothing new has happened. Here's what we know about Scream 3: 1.)It will be directed by Wes Craven. 2.)Kevin Williamson is writing it. 3.) It will be different from the other "Screams" Kevin Williamson hints.... 4.) Most likely, all of the people that survived the last two movies will be in it. As for the Scream 3 Game, I'm afraid it might be cancelled due to lack of time. If anyone really wants me to continue it, please post a message in the Guestbook. It seems that the Message Board isn't working quite well. Anyway, thanks for coming here and Happy Holidays!

Neat Theory from "Scream" fan..

Update: February 21st, 1999: It has been a while since my last update. I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and a Happy New Year. News about Scream 3 has been rather slow lately, but I did recieve an interesting, yet confusing, e-mail from George Martinez, a diehard "Scream" fan. It is rather about Scream 2 and Halloween: H20, but I will post it here. Also, I deleted the "Scream" messageboard because it wasn't working. Anyway, enjoy!

"In scream the teens were watching halloween while in H:20 a different group of teens were watching Scream 2. I am going to prove in this e-mail how this is impossible. If scream was reality (was) then that would make Halloween a fanasty world meaning all Halloweens sequels would be fanasty too. So H:20 would be a movie available to rent or own in the Scream world but in a scene in H:20 it depicts two teenagers watching scream 2 blowing the whole fanasty/reality view out of perspective. The only way this is possible is if in H:20 they were watching stab 2 and not scream 2 and that in scream, Halloween was based off a true story but that explanation has flaws. How could the makers of Halloween: Based On A True Story and Stab 2 get the actual dialouge that happened at the murders? I bring this up because the dialouge on the movies that were being watched by the teens was exactly like the actual dialouge. And as they proved in Stab, with no witnesses the dialouge is faulty and very unlike how it actually happened. Now if Halloween was reality (was) then that would make Scream A fanasty world meaning Scream 2 would be A fanasty also. So scream and scream 2 would be movies available to rent or own in the Halloween world but if that was true then how could the teenagers in scream be watching Halloween? The only way this could be possible is if Halloween was (again) based on a true story. But that has the same diolouge flaw seen as seen above, and if it was based on a true story it would have been mentioned in Scream in H:20 (which it wasn't). So that explanation doesn't work either. So that must mean there is no explanation. Scream in a sense was a minor tribute to Halloween. So that's why Halloween was placed in Scream. So I believe the makers of H:20 returned the favor by placing Scream 2 in H:20 and I relize that in some minds the "retuned favor" is a great gesture. I didn't think it was. I think they should have thought about it a little more and how it would affect some of us hard core horror-addicts. I didn't write this E- mail to bash the makers of Scream and Halloween; in fact I think they made the best horror movies of all time (Scream). I just felt that hard core horror- addicts would like to know of this mistake and maybe make theories of their own. My next question is, was this a simple mistake or a deliberate one? I don't believe it was a simple mistake because Kevin Williamson seems like a person who wouldn't let a mistake like this go unnoticed. If anything it was a deliberate mistake schemed by Mr. Williamson into making some of us hard core horror-addicts sit up and think for once. Or maybe he noticed the mistake, ignored it, and thought to himself "there my movies I can do whatever I want with them". And you know something he's right. They are his movies and he can do whatever he wants with them. Besides, it's not reality it's fanasty."

Scream III...slashing ahead.

Update: March 2nd, 1999: For months, there has been concerns whether the major stars of the series would return for the last entry in the genre-defining trilogy - especially if Neve Campbell would be back. Now, Variety reports that Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are all set to come back for the project which is still aiming for a start-of-shooting date in May while Campbell and Cox are on hiatus from their TV shows. The tentative release date of the film is still set at December 10th, 1999.

Update: April 20th, 1999: This comes from Dark Horizons (www.darkhorizons.com):

The Site of Scream claims to have found some extremely juicy gossip from one of their reliable sources. At an annual meeting between theatre managers and motion picture company execs (sounds like ShoWest to me), some details about "Scream 3" were discussed which ended the debate about whether this last film in the series would be a 'prequel' or a 'sequel' - the answer is both, a style reminiscent of "The Godfather, Part Two". While Sidney (Neve Campbell) is being tormented by a killer in the present day, there'll apparently be numerous flashbacks to the time one year before the first film - the last days before Sidney's mother was murdered. The very talented webmaster Megan then makes the reasonable assumption "This tells me that the prequel aspect will be used to tie into the current killer. I believe that there are events and details not yet revealed to us, which will then explain who and why the killer is in the last installment, thereby wrapping up the entire story". When you remember the amount of purposely leaked misinformation there was with "Scream 2", you can be sure to take every piece of info on "Scream 3" with 'a grain of salt'. However this report has come from 'Megan' whose proved very reliable in the past so don't be too quick to doubt it. Shooting on "Scream 3" officially begins mid-late June. Thanks also to 'Nick'.

Will Neve Be Back? Yes..For How Long, Read Below:

Update: Tuesday, April 27, 1999: In an interview for "Entertainment Tonight", Neve Campbell has finally revealed details of her involvement in the third "Scream" film (and be warned as there is a MAJOR SPOILER ahead so - if you want to see it, swipe your browser over the next few lines.)< Neve stated in the interview that "Yes there is going to be a "Scream 3", but I will probably only do about 3 weeks for it. We're not real sure were else the character can go, I mean she has been through so much". This would definitely seem to indicate Campbell's role in the film is short, we can only guess now at which point in the film will she be killed off (or will she?) I guess we'll find out December 10th.>

Who will be the "lucky" Scream 3 "opener"?

Update: May 18th, 1999: It won't be cast for a few weeks yet, but the rumour mill is continually stirring about who will play the hapless victim in the opening sequence of the third and last "Scream" film. 'Megan' at KevinWilliamson.Com has heard a few names which all seem to indicate the star would be from one of the teen shows on the WB Network ("Buffy", "Dawson's Creek", "Felicity", "Charmed"). Names that can likely be scratched off include Sarah Michelle Gellar (already appeared in "Scream 2"), and both Michelle Williams & Katie Holmes who'll be working on other projects. The main suspects left are Keri Russell, Shannon Doherty and one girl whose name has previously been rumoured to be attached to this project - Alyssa Milano. My vote is for Shannen, though the actual casting won't be known till a short time before shooting starts late June/early July. Roger Jackson (who supplys the evil phone voice) will return and there's talk his role will be more crucial this time around - a very intriguing idea. On the more confirmed side of the news, Matthew Lillard revealed in a recent SLC Punk 'Rock n Roll Insider' Chat that he won't be returning in the third installment (he was Stu in film #1).

SCREAM 3 TEASER POSTER

Update: May 19th, 1999: This comes from www.darkhorizons.com once again:

Update: June 14th, 1999: New York Daily News columnists Rush & Molloy have been writing up some really juicy gossip lately, now they've got a startling rumour about the current fate of the third "Scream" film. Seems the cast and crew are grumbling as apparently only 30 pages of the script have been written with the film's scheduled start of shooting date delayed from June 15th till July 7th. No reason has been given for Kevin Williamson's delay on finishing the script which was initially due in April, though one hopes something will be worked out shortly. Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox are also said to be quite concerned about getting their scenes filmed before production begins again on their respective shows "Party of Five" and "Friends" in late July. (From Dark Horizons)

Kevin Williamson won't return???

Update: June 15th, 1999: Screenwriter Kevin Williamson will NOT be writing the script of the third "Scream" film it seems. 'The Hollywood Reporter' announces that the 30 pages he turned in was actually an outline from which the script is being based on - with less than a month to go before shooting is supposed to begin. Ehren Kruger, the writer of the upcoming thrillers "Arlington Road" (with Jeff Bridges) & "Reindeer Games" (with Ben Affleck), has been handed the scriptwriting duties. The reason for handing in only the outline is a reasonable one - overwork. Williamson is readying his black comedy "Killing Mrs. Tingle" for an August release, setting up the new TV series "Wasteland" beginning in September, and continuing his regular duties as executive producer on "Dawson's Creek". This last film of the teen slasher series is described as funnier & less gory than its predecessors. (Could this be true??)

Parker Posey

July 2nd, 1999: Parker Posey ("Clockwatchers", "The House of Yes") has officially landed a major role in the third teen slasher flick. Even though shooting is scheduled to begin next week, many of the new roles are still currently empty and need to be filled quite soon. Expect either a rush of announcements next week or another delay of shooting. (From DH. Is it just me or does she resemble Neve Campbell slightly?
