Dear Ms. House:

I am writing to apply for a teaching position at your school. As you will see in the enclosed resume, I recently completed my training as an elementary education teacher. I am would prefer to teach upper elementary grades, however I have experience with all grade levels K-5 and I would happily accept a position with any grade. My resume highlights relevant projects I completed as a teacher candidate.

Plum Point Elementary School would be a perfect match for my interests. According to my records, Plum Point is a National Blue Ribbon School. In comparison to countywide student to teacher ratios, Plum Point is a little high at 19.1, however I feel it is justified since Plum Point has the second highest elementary enrollment in the county. I attended Mutual Elementary, Southern Middle, and Patuxent High in Calvert County, and I hope to spend much of my teaching career working in Calvert County Schools.

I believe my skills and interests would serve your school well. My academic transcripts and references are enclosed. I look forward to discussing these issues with you in person.
