Hershey requires a lot of attention. He did not get very much of it when he was younger, so he is starved for it now. If someone is petting one of the other dogs, Hershey has to be petted too. It sometimes takes him several hours before he gives up on trying to make someone pet him and lays down to go to sleep. It can get a little annoying if he is bothering you for a long time. We have to tell him to lay down and make him stay so he will give up. I observed him for five days to see if some days he didn't require as much attention. I graded each day on a scale of one to ten (ten being the most). Here is how it turned out:
Day one: 10. It took him two hours before he finally fell asleep. He tried to jump in my dad's lap in order to get petted.
Day two: 10. He was the same as the day before, but this time I made him lay down.
Day three: 7. He stayed outside most of the evening, so he wasn't around any people for a while. By the time he came inside, he was too tired and fell asleep after about 45 min.
Day four: 10. He was worse than ever today. We had to put him outside after a while because he would not give up.
Day five: 8. He was pretty good today. I petted him for about a half hour and then he layed down. He did get back up again later and bothered my brother though.
Hershey did not improve much over the five day period. He is stll just as persistant about getting attention than he was when we first got him.
