Bolivar Bay LightHouse

Silent Sentinel

For many years I stood as a guide to safe passage,
for ships and pleasure crafts.

In Galveston Bay I shined my light for all to see.
I was proud then, to guide the ships in the sea.

I now stand silent and oversee the tourist.
Though my light has gone now, I still flourish.

There are some that still remember me,
in my glory days.

Some still look for me to guide them to safety.
I watch over the people now, guideing them to safety.

Though my light has dulled now.
I still see and guide.

For the lord God above lives in me.
His light shines from my top for all to see.

I see smiles where ever I look.
I stand tall and proud.

On the Bolivar Peninsula I stand alone.
Looking out over the Galveston Bay.

I watch the people on the Ferries.
They come and go and always smile at me.

The old ones tell many a story about me.
Of how I braved the storms you see.

I will stand tall for as long as can be.
If I could talk I would tell you about me.

As you can see, I am well kept and loved.
I will watch over you, even if you are not on the sea.
