Two years ago I first purchased 24 varieties of Heather from Rock Spray Nursery in Truro, Massachusetts. They are a large grower of hardy Heaths and Heathers and owners of a quaint seaside nursery which displays wonderful gardens and offers for retail sale all of it's varieties of heath and heather along with a wide variety of complimenting plants. I sought out the nursery this summer and was pleasantly surprised at the quaintness of this nursery. It was like entering a Scottish Cottage Garden by the sea. The main growing facilities are also in Truro, but not open to the public. I would love to see their operation sometime down the road. That day I purchased more heather and some fine lavendar specimans to compliment the heather. I live in Zone 4 in New Hampshire so all my heathers are in a southern exposure, but I did leave them unprotected the first winter and they did fine. I have wonderful soil for heath and heather, so even with temperatures hovering around 30 below a few times last winter the plants did fine as did several Zone 5 specimans that I have growing. I hardily recommend either mail order purchases from Rock Spray or why not come to the Cape and visit.

As always, a disclaimer is necessary for those of you without Green Thumbs. I am in no way responsible for your failures or those of Rock Spray Nursery, though I have had great successes and a wonderful relationship with them.

Now Visit Rock Spray Nursery if you already haven't!
