4. JOHN HELPS: Fourth child born to Henry Helps and Mary Rawlings.
    Born 1837, died 1 Aug 1910. On the 6 Jan 1863, he married Sarah Ann (Barker) Brydges, born
    1840, died 8 Dec 1872. (d/o Matthew Barker and Mary ?).
    Both buried Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia, Ont.
    They had 4 children. Samuel, Mary, Francis  and Hattie.

    Census show John born 11 May 1835.

    John re-married Margaret R. Taylor  (5 ch).

    Sarah's 1st husband Robert Brydges went down the well on a windlass rope carrying a candle
    lantern to check the water level.  The candle ignited the gases and the resulting explosion was
    heard 2 miles away.     (Sarah later gave birth to their son Robert).
  

1. SAMUEL HELPS:Born 1864, died 1937. He married Hannah Marie Cable, born 1864, died
    17 Jun 1890.  (d/o John Cable and Harriet Hagle).
    Hannah buried Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia, Ont.
    They had 3 children. Frank, Harriet and Sarah.

    Samuel re-married Jerusha J. Cable (Hannah's sister).
    They had 1 child. John.

    Samuel re-married Victoria (Roberts) LaCombe.
    They had 3 children. William, James and Samuel.

    Samuel was a Blacksmith in Port Huron, Mich. He later moved to
    Minniapolis.

          (1) FRANCIS "Frank" HELPS: Born 5 Apr 1886.
               In 1901 he was living with his grandparents, John and Margaret Helps.

          (2) HARRIET P. HELPS: Born 7 Apr 1888.
               In 1901 she was living with her grandparents, John and Margaret Helps.

          (3) SARAH ELIZABETH HELPS: Born 1890, died1934. She  married Walter L. Brydges,
                born 1882, died 1968.   (s/o Thomas Brydges and Sarah Helps).
               Both buried Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia, Ont.
               They had 10 children. Clifford, Nelson, Robert, Evelyn,  Violet, Mary, Lucille, Walter, Lewis
                and Doris.

               Walter re-married Charlotte Morrow.

     Samuel re-married 11 Mar 1892 to Jerusha J. Cable, born 1870 died 7 Jun 1893. (d/o John Cable
      and Harriet Hagle).
     They had 1 child. John.

          (1) JOHN HELPS: Born Jun 1893.

     Samuel re-married Victoria (Roberts) LaCombe.
     They had 3 children. William, James and Samuel.

         (1) WILLIAM HELPS: Born 1907. He married twice and had 3 children, but by which wife is not
               known.
              They had 3 children. William, Mary and Carol.

         (2) JAMES VERNON HELPS: Born 1909. In 1928, he married Maxine ?.
              They had 3 children. Donald, Harold and Virginia.

         (3) REV. SAMUEL HELPS: Born 1910. He married twice and had 5 children, but by which wife
               is not known.
              They had 5 children. Samuel, Judy, James, Phillip and Thomas.

              At one time lived in Lindstrom, Minn. USA.

2. MARY HELPS: Born 1868.
    Possibly died young. Not shown in any census.

3. FRANCIS BARTLE HELPS: Born 15 Jan 1869, died 6 May 1870.

4. HARRIET (HATTIE)  HELPS: Born 14 Jun 1872. Married Ellison Powrie.

    John Helps re-married Margaret R. Taylor, born 1856,  died 5 May 1923.
    Both buried Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia, Ont.
    They had 5 children. Martha, Henry, Mary, John and Harriet.

1. MARTHA HELPS: Born 30 Jun 1876.

2. HENRY HELPS: Born 20 Oct 1881, died 17 Mar 1959. He married Mary Elizabeth Senecal,
    born 1871, died 1933.
    Both buried Wyoming, Ont.
    They had no children. 

3. MARY HELPS: Born 31 Dec 1884. She married Walter Hill.
    In 1959, they lived in St. Catherines, Ont.

4. JOHN HELPS: Born 1888.
    Not shown in 1901 census with rest of the family.

5. HARRIET L. HELPS: Born 24 May 1897. She married William Sullivan.
    In 1959 lived in St. Catherines, Ont.
