Photographs of Controlled Burns

At J.F. New and Associates, Inc., part of our native habitat management program involves conducting controlled burns. Fire is a great way to restore nutrients to the earth as well as bettering the chance for the growth of native vegetation. Following are several photographs from a controlled burn in April 2000 at the Koontz Lake Nature Preserve in Koontz Lake, Indiana. Some of these photos were taken by Barb Allison for the South Bend Tribune.
