Another thing I noticed is that every time somebody gets their pictures developed and then shows the pictures to people, the people in the pictures are ALWAYS like "ew that's a really bad picture of me" or "ew I look really bad" when the truth is, everybody else is like "wow who's that good looking person?". Plus did you ever notice how many people HATE their school pictures? I mean, granted, most school pictures are pretty bad. But some people take it to the point that they refuse to even pass the pictures out because of how bad they think they look. School pictures don't even matter much (as far as how bad they look) because all the people you go to school with KNOW what you look like on a daily basis so it's not like they're going to judge you by how bad your school picture is.
Think about pictures of models
and movie stars.. We look at those pictures and think "wow, I wish I looked
like that", but the truth is, if you look a little closer and pretend you're
looking in a mirror, you become super critical. Maybe not necessarily
a mirror, but pretend you're looking at a picture of yourself. Here
are a few examples. We see these people and think they are beautiful,
but below the pictures I'll tell you what perhaps they see when
they look at themselves.
Okay first off we have Angelina Jolie. I think she's a very pretty
woman, but when I pretend it's a picture of myself, I see that her left
ear (right side) is a little lower than the other one. Her left eye
(right side of the screen) seems to be rounder than the other one, and
her eyebrows don't quite look even. Her hairline is crooked, and
she looks like she's stoned. Bad picture? Maybe... but try
it with any other picture of her, and I'd see just as many defaults.
Next
we have Brad Pitt. I think he's a very good lookin guy. Now
if I put myself in his shoes in a way and look at the picture in a way
that he might look at it, here's what I see. One of his nostrils
is much larger than the other one. The way the picture was taken,
it looks like he only has one ear. His hair seems to be stabbing
him in the eye, one of his eyes look bigger than the other one, and it
looks like his lips are severely chapped. I think that's a towel
around his neck, but it makes him look like he has a huge hump on his back.
Not to mention that his facial expression makes him look extremely stuck
up.
Now let
us move on to the lovely Cameron Diaz. I think she is one of the
prettiest people in the world, but if she looked at this picture, would
she be happy with it? If someone took a picture of you with your
mouth half open as if you were in the middle of a sentence, would you approve
of the picture? Plus her hair in this picture, the way it was laying,
it kinda looks like it was cut uneven. I mean, I know that her hair
isn't really cut uneven, but if I were looking at a picture of myself,
that's what I would be thinking. Also, do you think she's happy with
her nose?
How about
Ms. Cindy Crawford? I did a report on her once in junior high, and
I think she's a great person. She's got brains and beauty.
However, you wouldn't be able to tell it by critiquing this picture.
At first [ignorant] glance, it looks like any other beautiful picture of
her. Though if you look a little closer you'll notice the whole in
her left (right side of the screen) cheek. Oversized dimple or glitch
in the picture? Her right eye (left side of the screen) appears to
be drooping in this picture as if it were sliding down her face, and why
is she pointing at herself? If someone took a picture of you that
looked like you were pointing at yourself, wouldn't you regret it and think
it was a "bad picture"?
Do you kinda see what I mean? I think its pointless to care what you look like in pictures. I also think people are way too critical of themselves. It seems like everyone is either overly critical or conceded. What you may not realize is that everyone sees everyone else differently. That's why sometimes someone will come up to you and say "don't you think he's hot!!!" and you're like "uh... no?". So maybe YOU may think you look bad, but everyone else may think you look great. It's impossible to please everyone so stop trying so hard! Looks don't really matter anyway. They may create an initial attraction, but beyond that first impression, it's your personality and proof of a brain that'll keep people talking to you. So stay away from mirrors!!!! I hate it when people complain about how they look or how fat they are cuz more than likely they're the only ones who notice.
