Anti Tradition

Do you ever stop and wonder why it is that you do certain things just because you've done them before?  To me that makes no sense.  Why do something you might not even necessarily want to do just because it's "tradition"?  It makes no sense.  You should do things because you want to do them, not because you've done them before at this certain time or day or year or month or whatever.  Routine's are the same as traditions.  If you have a routine you do in order to keep yourself in line or to make sure you don't forget anything in the morning, that's fine.  But if you have a routine just for the sake of doing the same things every day then it's stupid.  Maybe there's something you do or someone you talk to every single day, and then one day something happens or something's missing or that person isn't around, and you can't fulfill that daily  "tradition".  Things like that can ruin your day; but why?  It makes no sense.  Traditions cause people to do things, with no meaning behind their actions, just because they've done them before.

Anniversaries are sort of the same thing.  I mean it's cool to know when you first started doing certain things (important things) so you can keep track of how many years they last.  Like Birthdays.  It's cool to know the day of your birth so you can know how old you are (if you want to know).  And it's cool to know the day you started going out with someone or the day you got married so you can keep track of how long it lasts.  But if you think about it, anniversaries are just dates on a calendar.  Why should you celebrate things on the same days every year when every single day is a new day that has never happened before?  There are only 365 days in a year so why waste them all celebrating things you've done on those days in previous years?

And speaking of that, what are days and years anyway besides measurements of time?  Who actually sat down and decided that there was to be 365 days in a year (and 366 in leap years)?  Why that number?  Instead of having winter, spring, summer, and fall as our four seasons, why not have each SEASON be 365 days and make "seasons" be periods where you have 4 different types of weather?  If it were like that, anniversaries and traditions would all take place on different days, and doesn't that prove that the day itself is insignificant?  Live each day as a new day, and live it the way you want to live it.  Don't live by tradition.  That's boring.  If the number of traditions was slightly increased, we could end up having a different tradition for each day of the year.  That would mean that every single year would be exactly the same.  Do you realize how boring that would be?  Screw tradition!
