Friends...you and me...
you brought another friend...
and then there were 3...
we started our group...
Our circle of friends...
and like that circle...
there is no beginning
or end...

Every evening as I'm laying here in bed
This little prayer keeps running  through my mortal head.
God bless my mom and dad and bless my little child
And take care of my spouse when things start getting wild.
And God, there's one more thing I wish that you could do
Hope ya don't mind me asking' but "Please" bless my "puter too??
Now I know that it's not normal to bless a mother board
But listen just a second while I explain to you,
"MY LORD"  you see,
That little metal box holds more than odds and ends.
Inside those small components  rest a hundred of my "BEST FRIENDS"
Some it's true I've never seen and most I've never met
We've never shaken hands or shared a meal as yet.
I know for sure they like me by the kindness' that they give
And this little scrap of metal  is how I travel to where they live.
By faith is how I know them, much the same as I know you.
I share in what life brings them, from that our friendship grew.
"PLEASE" take and extra minute from your duties up above,
To bless this hunk of metal that's filled with so much love.

I had some free time, so what did I do?
I checked the computer to see if I'd heard from you.
I used to walk out to a box to retrieve the mail
But I'd rather get it instantly
Than wait on the snail.
Checking my email is always fun
I usually get a joke or greeting from someone.
I feel so connected because on the other end
I know I've discovered a newfound friend.
When I've had a hard day and need to share,
Here I can find a friend who will listen and care.
And to this friend I hope I let know,
That I am always there for them also.
Isn't it a strange kind of bond we form?
It isn't exactly like the "norm".
But where is it written, face to face we have to be,
For you to be a very good friend to me?
That little joke, or note, or even just a simple "Hi",
Could be like a ray of sunshine from the sky.
So my online-pals, this is dedicated to you,
For all the smiles you have made anew.
May our friendship continue to grow,
And the warmth we feel continue to flow.

"Online Friends"
We have to be leery of our "online friends";
The reason for this comes from deep down within.
Throughout our lives, from birth to the grave,
Our impressions of others come from how they behave.
We can touch them, feel them, see them, and hear them,
The truth of their words through a multi-sensed ear.
We can tell by their eyes, or their language,
Or looking at their body language,
If their words are sincere or out of a book.
But online the words we read on the screen,
We interpret to say what we want them to mean.
Our innermost feelings are brought forth there,
From the words that appear on the screen where we stare.
Does "I love you" from them mean the same as from me?
Or am I only a game to them and should I then flee?
Are they laughing, or joking, or smirking, or worse?
While I pour out my heart in short little spurts?
And that night on the phone, when we spoke those same words,
Did they hang up and say "Good God, what a nerd!"?
In all other places, we choose friends with care.
Online, it is sad, we must truly beware.
To all of you whom I've shared with from within my heart...
Remember, be gentle, even though far apart.
Because "I love you" from me comes from truth, inside,
Where trust and hope and my true feelings hide.
And no matter the image I show to the rest,
While with you I share my fears, hopes and thoughts.
And I pray when we meet, I am all that I seem.

"FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES"
We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a  maze,
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes,
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name,
We want recognition, but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt,
In PMs we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships - but - why we don't know,
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen, we can be so bold,
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
Why is it we share, the thoughts in our mind,
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must,
So we turn to the puter, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains,
They are Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.
