Remembrance
I light a candle in remembrance.
To honor young lives taken.
Like this small flickering flame
It took just a whisper
Be it a puff of wind or the zinging of a bullet
To extinguish the bright light of youth.
I watch wax pool at the base of the fire
Resembling the well of tears shed by friends and family
At sight of the bloodied body they could once give a name.
I could put out this candle so easily..
But how could any life be treated such?
