Come explore history in our own
backyard. Do the Rocky-run up the
Art Museum steps, sing along to "Philadelphia Freedom", grab a cheese steak,
and bring your walking shoes so you can explore America's most historic square
mile, including the Liberty Bell Center, Independence Hall, and Independence
National Historic Park. There is
much to see and do when we have our business meeting in Philadelphia the first
week-end after Father's day, June 23 – 25, 2006, with early
arrivers coming to town Wednesday or Thursday.
Headquarters is the Philadelphia Downtown Courtyard by
Marriott, 21 North Juniper St. at City Hall. The special FHS rate is $134 single - quad per
night, per room, from June 21 – 25, 2006 (14% occupancy tax = $152.76 per
night). Check-in is at 3:00 PM and
check-out is 12:00 noon. The block
of rooms will be held until Wednesday, May 24, 2006.
Reservation requests received
after the "cut-off date" will be accepted on a space-available basis at the
Downtown Courtyard at their prevailing rate. I highly suggest that you make your reservation early so we
don't run out of rooms at this rate like we did in Chicago. Please browse our special link or call 215-496-3200 or
1-800-321-2211 to make your reservations now. Be sure to mention Frankfurt American High School Reunion in
order to secure the negotiated rate.
The Hospitality Suite will be open from 3 PM on Thursday, June 22 through
12:00 noon Sunday, June 25. Saturday morning we will hold our business meeting
in the hospitality suite, and Saturday night we will have a wonderful dinner at
our hotel followed by dancing the night away. As we learn more, we'll post it here and on our
Yahoogroup site. In the
meantime, check out the Philadelphia link
for some ideas of how you might spend your free hours. You'll find lots to do in and around
Philly.
The
Philadelphia International Airport is located only seven miles from
downtown and is served by the major and discount airlines offering non-stop,
direct service. If you are flying
into Philly, it is suggested that you take an airport shuttle, limo (USA Limo
– 800-872-6070) or the SEPTA
R1 to the Market East rail station (about $5.50), as parking is at a
premium. Many of the downtown
attractions are within walking distance from our hotel, so comfortable shoes could be the easiest method of hitting all the sites; or jump
on the Phlash downtown
loop bus that stops at 19 key locations throughout the city center. Amtrak
also runs to Philadelphia. If you
want to come in early or stay later, New
Jersey Transit offers a direct line from Philadelphia to Atlantic City for
that added gambling get away.
Do you think you'd like to attend? We hope so. It's as easy as ONE, TWO, THREE: 1) Make your hotel
reservations. 2) Make your travel reservations. To check flights, browse Internet Airfares for the daily fare sales
from all the top cities. 3) Complete and return the Registration Form to sign up for the Philadelphia
fun!
Reunion Aid can help defray costs if you would like to
attend and money is an issue. Confidential
arrangements are made by contacting the Treasurer
(714-897-6629). We want you to attend! If you don't need help, consider a donation to Reunion Aid
when you complete your registration for the meeting and pay your
dues.
Looking ahead to 2007: The Frankfurt American High
School 2007 Business Meeting for the classes of 1963 through 1966 is scheduled
