States Ranked By Water DemandListed below are states ranked based on water demand. Water demand is determined by dividing the amount of water available by population (Water Land Area over Population). Each number below represents the number of people per square mile of water. Water demand is not totally accurate because some water such as ice caps are not easily accessible and swamps and marshlands usually are not available because of laws that protect them. (States at the top have a high demand for water and states at the bottom have a low demand.)
