The "No Zone"
What is the "No Zone"??
It's one of four zones around an 18-wheeler that you should avoid when sharing the highways! (Yes sharing, they pay hefty taxes and believe it or not, more than 70% of car-truck accidents are caused by cars!)
The Zones
The space immediately in front of the truck in the same lane...
the area immediately behind the truck in the same lane...
the area one lane over and at the left of the truck...
the area one lane over and at the right of the truck.
Other Hints
If you can't see the reflection of the truck driver in his rear view mirrors...he can't see YOU!
Don't "crowd the curb" when you see a truck trying to make a right turn..they need to make wide turns.
At stop signs/lights stay behind the white line so that trucks can negotiate turns. "Crowding the light" forces a truck driver to steer dangerously close to the curb, causing a possible accident situation.
WHY?
There's lots of reasons! Safety, for my family, for all drivers, and alot because I have a best friend and two brothers out on the road! It just makes good sense anyway!
