Perkins Island Light

Perkins Island Light

This 23 foot octagonal wooden tower
was built on the seven acre
Perkins Island in 1898.
The station is very similar to
Doubling Point and Squirrel Point.
The bell tower, boathouse and oil house
were all added in the early 1900's.
In 1959 the original
fifth order Fresnel lens
was removed and
a 250mm optic was added.
The fog bell was also
removed at this time.
Georgetown took over
the property in 1973,
but little has been done
to improve the grounds.
The keeper's house and all out
buildings are in need of repair.
