By Denise Quiñones, Miss Puerto Rico (The translation of Denise letter is made by me) In a few hours, I will be on the way to Miss Universe Pageant, and all those memories about the words of my people come to my mind. It seems to be easy summarizing what has happened on me in this time, but it surely isn't, because to write in only one page all these beautiful experiences could ever be impossible. I thank God, the most for this great experiences that He made for me; for being always there for me by my side; for keeping my spirit, my strength and my focus; for being the light that shines all over my way, and the most important, for shining in my soul. I've gotten a hard, but delight, preparation. I've spent many hours at the gym, on interviews, presentations, training, visits to different places, just like Hogar Santa María de los Angeles, where I could met pregnant young ladies to whom I admire for facing being pregnant and taking the way for having their babies. A brave decision from their part. It's a hard work, but I always have in mind that I'm doing this for Puerto Rico and for the goals that I've pursued throughout my life. This last takes out the title of "difficult" to the experiences gotten. It is not a sacrifice, because I do this with great satisfaction and pride. To everyone who thinks that being a beauty queen is something easy, I just want to tell you that this is a hard working job and one deals with effort, but, as all things in like, it has great rewards. To becoming Miss Puerto Rico and comes out from the private life to a public life has been a hard change, but is a responsibility I love to take care since I feel I am an example to many people, and with my example I can make the difference, even if it is a short one, that is the most precious gift I can give and the most important task for me. The best experiences gotten are the moments I've shared thoughts with my people. The love that they show to me has become the most beautyful crown I've received. Pageants open doors, and I know that the Miss Puerto Rico Universe crown has opened many doors for me, but the most important thing is that all you Puerto Ricans has opened your heart for me and you trust on me. Every day I hear "God Bless You", "You are our queen", and "No matter the final result, you are our queen". These words make me keep on the go. If I could change anything, I would like to start over again. These months have came so quickly and all these experiences have been so wonderful, of great feelings, that I just don't want to end up. Many special people have helped me to become what I am now. In first place, there is my father, my mother, my brother, my grandparents, and my uncles. Thank you for being there in my life and for giving me strong moral principles. It has been hard getting far from you, but you're always there in my heart. Without love in a life one couldn't get what I've been able to. Thanks also for the people that brought to me their knowledge and helped me since I decide to become Miss Lares. I'm pleased because this help made me be here enjoying this great experiences. Also, for all this team that has been there since I became Miss Puerto Rico, that has become a key element on me. I feel very positive, filled with energies, trustful and sure of making a great job. It has been an excellent preparation and I'm ready to get thru the final day and the pride I'll get when I'll hear “Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico!” That will surely stay on my soul forever. No matter what happens in Miss Universe, I know many beautiful experiences in my life will happen. I've many dreams and goals, just like becoming a singer and representing Puerto Rico in another way, but always being an example of a good citizen, a good human being that hopes to be every day a better person, to be close to God and only bringing love. Thanks to Puerto Rico for giving me all their positive thoughts to myself. Thanks for their support and let you know you will always be on my heart in the pageant. Those blessings that you give me will make that extra mile for making me giving the best of me, and if is God's will, to bring the fourth crown to Puerto Rico.
