Pax Mission IV - All Together Again

This mission was a little different from normal missions, in that all the three mission groups got together in one mission. The posting was arranged by one of our Moderators through ListBot services, allowing us to post to just one address and then ListBot redirected our posts to everyone on the list. Convenient!

Also participating were the Volkune Mission Group and the Terran Mission Group:

 Volkune Group   Terran Group
HiKatuishi Creala - CO And Captain of the LSC Vol   D'Rahnya Xilahn - CO And Captain of the EA Victory
(For this mission, the Vol was without an XO)   Corran Horn - XO and Second in command of the EA Victory
Sean Clark - Navigator (and General Tinkerer)   Lauren of the Skywalker Clan - Minbari Religious

Mission De-Brief

A group of refugees had made their way to Pax, requesting asylum - stating that their world had been destroyed in a cosmic calamity. The Klande and Thude civilisations were genetically similar. But, the Klande had telepathic ability and were the religious and social leaders of both races. The Thude were the workers and labourers to both civilisations.

There was social disharmony between the two civilisations, and a peace had been temporarily reached during a period of time they called "The Games". During this period, all combat would be done in the arena during the course of a series of competitions. The winner in these competitions would determine who would have control of the valuable resources of both worlds. Also during this time, the leaders of both races would be physically joined to show unity of the races. However, the period of time allowed for "The Games" was short, and due to expire at any time....

Tirest of Vorune returned from Minbar with his memory restored. Knowledge of Tirest's identity as one of Valen's chosen Nine had spread to most of Minbar. He was assigned two members of his clan to travel with him and protect him. The Anla'shok also sent one of their members along as a tribute to Tirest's ancient role in founding the Rangers. Upon his return to Pax, he discovered that station security had been allowed to slide. Tirest cracked down on his security forces and started a training program.

Also arriving during this period was the arrival of the EA Victory and the Volkune LSC Vol. This lead to the reunion of Captains Kat and D'Rahnya Creala after a long separation. Unfortunately this reunion soon soured and the pair announced their divorce.

Rron PrimaVol had arrived to establish the Volkune diplomatic post on Pax. During his reunion with V'thtashi Harun de', who had formerly served under him on the Vol, a relationship was rekindled. The pair eventually announced their engagement, against Volkune royal tradition, which stated the PrimaVol never married. After much deliberation and soul searching, the PrimaVol decided to go against tradition anyway.

The situation on Pax was reaching critical mass as the ritual truce between the Klande and the Thude ran out and no diplomatic solution had been reached to divert the rising storm. Tirest worked out an accord to keep the fighting to minimum numbers and in locations that could handle combat. The Klande and Thude agreed to these terms since they viewed Tirest as a figure touched by their god Vlande (after having witnessed him in the presence of the Vorlon Ambassador Toch).

While mentally debating how to solve the problem, at a welcome banquet Torquemada stumbled upon a simple plan: turn people's attention elsewhere.  He located Captain "Kat" Creala and asked for assistance in turning the weapons that had been found in a hidden base into a planetary defence system.  After a few initial guided tours and reports, Kat Creala and his Marines took over the project. Recruiting the talents of Lanzeckii and Sean Clark, the team was able to calibrate the sensors and equipment in the base with those on Pax Station allowing Pax to control the operation of the facilities in the former Shag Toth base.

Ambassador Toch, sensing that the fighting was about to intensify, gave a psi-blocking device to Tirest for those members of security with telepathic abilities. Fighting broke out between the Klande and Thude and the psionic battle cry of the Klande levelled every telepath not protected by Toch's device or naturally immune to the Klande. The battle raged in the zocalo and gardens until the security forces managed to calm things down.

Already having experienced the negative effects of the Klande psychic chants in the form of headaches, Torquemada took a very cynical view of the situation. Unable to contain his aggression, as intensified by the alien's telepathic songs, Torquemada became more outspoken against his Psi Corp tradition.

Chaos had began to spread, with the death of two Victory officers, Valor Ivandahoe and Lan Malkari, by Klande and Thude hands. Lauren and D'Rahnya had found themselves in the middle of the renewed Klande and Thude aggressions. Also caught in the first stages of the battle were Sarinth, Samdre Tinner, Lanzeckii Orinari, Gregor MacGrunt and many others.

Lauren had held her own while defending D'Rahnya who had been stunned by the Klande scream because of her high psi power. Tirest nearly died in an attack aimed at his unprotected back. He was saved by the Sarinth, who sacrificed his life to protect Tirest. Tirest had offered to exert whatever influence he could to protect Sarinth's family.

Torquemada was affected by the psychic blast, but was unexpectedly damaged by it.  The Klande song was supposed to be more painful the higher level telepath you are.  Torquemada, having a lower P-rating than many of his company, was strangely suffering more than others.  In addition, the "designer" stims that he had been taking, and had helped a little in suppressing the headache, had
run out, and the MedLab chief had cut his stim prescription, seeing as his blood level was near addiction levels.

After carefully weighing the options, Torquemada accepted V'thtashi's offer to be sent to the Telashi Temple on Vol'Indi.(A side note:  Due to the influence that Kat had on Kevin during his stay, Torquemada no longer wears his Psi Corps field agent uniform, now preferring a human business suit.)

Sarinth's death, as well as the deaths of Samdre, Valor and Lan Malkari, unlocked the battle rage and the ancient Minbari cut loose with his modified denn'bok until Lauren managed to calm him down. Tirest then made a vow to take Sarinth's family as his own and to protect them at all costs.

Security locked the two warring factions of the refugees in two separate sections of the station.

Tirest went to visit Lauren on board the Victory to discuss the rituals needed for Sarinth's burial, only to discover that Feaf Sima was also paying a visit. The Ambassador had brought her a jumba plant used in Centauri mating rituals. Feaf had created a bond between himself and Lauren without the Minbari's knowledge or consent.

Lauren and Tirest had to prevent the suicide of Gregor a member of the Victory's crew, before they could finish their plans for the rituals to honour Sarinth. Lauren agreed to discuss arrangements with V'thtashi for a ceremony that would allow the human crew of the Victory to participate.

Tirest returned to the station after a meeting with Captain D'Rahnya Xilhan regarding the discovery that Lauren possessed Human genetic material in her DNA. Tirest revealed that he knew of this secret, because he was the one that had ordered the information locked away. He then asked her to keep the information secret from Lauren.

Tirest needing to know what had happened between Lauren and Feaf, set up an elaborate simulation. This lead to Lauren sharing her experiences with Tirest and V'thtashi in a telepathic review. The bond between them was revealed.

Unknown to Tirest, Lauren and V'thtashi had met to discuss a solution to the bond. It was decided that Feaf would reduce the bond to the lowest level possible, since the bond could not be broken save by the death of one of the parties. They also discussed the low morale of the Chief Engineer, Sairenn. She had been depressed ever since her exile from Minbar. Lauren suggested that Sairenn be allowed to return to Minbar for one last time to say goodbye, as was previously agreed by the Council.

Lauren and V'th talked at length about Volkune and Minbari traditions, how they were similar and different. Lauren suggested that a Minbar religious named Tzipora may be recruited to help increase station morale amongst the Minbari after all the strain placed on them over the last few months.

They talked at length about many personal matters as well. Lauren had become distressed because of the bond placed on her. She felt unable to function, and this in turn was upsetting her relations with other crew members. The budding friendship between Lauren and Lanzeckii was becoming strained because Lauren chose to remain in her quarters on the Victory rather than risk exposure to Feaf Sima.

Tirest called an ancient warrior caste ritual to honour Sarinth's memory and invited all personnel to attend as part memorial, part cultural exchange. Afterwards, the non-Minbari crews met at the wake arranged by V'thtashi Harun de' on behalf of Lauren.

Tirest in his ignorance called the Mora'Dum (the application of terror) against Feaf Sima. After the wake, Tirest personally conducted the Mora'Dum to restore Lauren's honour before the Warrior Caste. Lauren tried to stop the action, but it was to late. Once called, the Mora'Dum had to be carried out. Feaf was armed with his Courtai and Tirest faced him with his denn'bok. In the combat that followed, both parties took many injuries, still it was Tirest who was left standing in the end.

Lauren's respect for the Warrior wavered, even though she knew why this had been done. Tirest made it back to his quarters before collapsing of his wounds. He was discovered by Wenart, the aide to the Minbari Ambassador, who wanted to know why he hadn't been warned about the Mora'Dum so that he could head off the protests that were flooding his office.

The report of Chief Tirest exacting vengeance upon Ambassador Feaf Sima suddenly stirred up anger in Torquemada, and he stormed into V'thtashi's office.  After the scolding, as well as some harsh insults, the human telepath left Pax for Vol'Indi.

Tirest was treated and left to recover in his quarters by a team from MedLab. It was here that an enraged V'thtashi came and stripped him of his position and clearance. Then had come the message from Minbar placing him in virtual exile. At their request, the Volkune government had agreed to assign him to the post of second in command of the LSC Vol. Tirest set up reparations to Feaf Sima. His own bodyguards were to guard Feaf's life as if it were Tirest's own for the next year.

Sairenn had chosen to return to Minbar for the last time to say goodbye to her family.
