Claire DanesHere is an adorable picture of the wonderful young actress, Claire Danes, who starred in the short-lived series My So Called Life. This was one of my all-time favorite shows, although I am a middle-aged mother of two and the show was about a 15-year-old girl. But watching it, brought me back to my teenage years in a flash and I could relate to the characters on this show (both the parents AND the teenagers) so much, that it was almost painful to watch! MTV is running the original 19 episodes of this show every night at 7 p.m. If you haven't already done so, check it out! Claire has blossomed into a beautiful young woman and you can see her talents in Romeo and Juliet, Little Women, To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday, and the new Les Miserables, just to name a few. My other favorites from the cast are Jared Leto (Jordan), Wilson Cruz (Ricky) and Devon Gummersall (Brian). Visit my new My So-Called Life page(currently still under construction).

Judi DenchAnother favorite actress is Dame Judi Dench. I first discovered her on a British comedy series which airs on my local PBS station, As Time Goes By, which tells the story of two middle-aged people who rediscover each other after a great many years. It is a comedy but also a touching and romantic series as well. Dame Judi also has portrayed "M" in the last few James Bond movies. But my personal favorite is her Oscar-nominated portrayal of Queen Victoria in Mrs. Brown.A scene from Mrs. Brown This movie also starred Scottish comedian/actor Billy Connelly, who some of us remember as the teacher on the last year's episodes of Head of the Class(replacing Howard Hesseman). The wonderful friendship that develops between Queen Victoria and one of her servants, John Brown, a rough and tumble Scot who takes no nonsense from anyone, including the Queen, is quite magical.

A photo of Dame Judi and her costar Billy Connelly AND one of her with Geoffrey Palmer, her husband in As Time Goes By

Couldn't resist these cute dancing Beatle heads!! My cousin Vicky and I were huge Beatles fans when we were teenagers--my favorite was Ringo and Vicky's was Paul. We saw Help! 10 times at Atlantic City's Steel Pier!
