Glencoe
Glen Coe is probably the most famous glen in Scotland, partly because it carries a main road which allows some of the finest hill scenery in the central Highlands to be viewed with no effort whatsoever. It is also the site of the massacre of 38 members of the Clan MacDonald on February 13, 1692 by a force of Campbell militia (government troops). There have been several larger massacres in the bloody history of clan warfare, however, none convulsed Scotland as much as this particular event.
