Life Beyond the Internet

Hello, my name is Trish, and I'm an internet-holic. Hehe, just kidding. Actually, I used to be that way, for a long time, when we first got AOL. I would go online for like, hours at a time, doing nothing except mindless web searching and chatting in some pathetic chat rooms. Now, I'm not quite as bad. I still go on often (mostly only to check my mail or update my page), but not nearly that much anymore. Why? Because I've found several things that I just simply CANNOT stand about being online. Okay, first of all, for all of you chat-a-holics, take heed of this...these are not real people you are talking to!!! Okay, well, of course they're REAL people, alive and everything, but about 99.9999999% of the people that you meet on the internet are not who they say they are. I mean, I could be chatting with some guy claiming to be a buff 16 year old guy, when really it's some sick perverted old man who's getting off on pretending to be some young stud. Seriously now, how many of you people have honestly not lied in chat rooms, on your web pages, etc.? Okay, I know no one will 'fess up to it, but I know it's happening. Not everyone is gorgeous, young, talented, smart, popular, etc. that most of us claim to be, just to sound more appealing. Now, granted, some people actually are. I'm not saying that EVERYONE is lying when they say they're all that, but I'm just saying a lot of people are. Okay, well enough about that, I've been rambling too long on this subject...
Another thing that bothers me about the internet is these stupid copyright thingies on everyone's web pages. As if their page contains like the secret code to discovering some multi-million dollar product. I mean, come on, people, it's just the computer for god's sakes! If someone steals an idea or something from your page, let's not have a hernia and turn them over to the FBI. Haven't you ever heard of the old cliche.."Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" Now, I'm not condoning people completely copying web page...I know it sucks to be plagarized. But, let's move on with our lives, shall we? So someone stole an idea from you. Woop de doo. I mean, do you know how hard it is to be original anymore? Practically anything you think of, even if you think it's original, probably is already copyrighted somewhere on someone else's page. So relax my friends...and don't forget, there is a WHOLE other world out there besides the internet...it's called the REAL WORLD.
