When I Grow Up

You know at times like these (uncertain) some of us are forced to think about other ways of making money. :) Let's dream a little. If you could pick something else you'd like to do for a living (whether it is a good idea or not), what would you do? And, like the suggestions for Carlene below, if anyone can suggest something (reasonably serious) do. I agree Carlene could write, so could Joe. Have some fun, while we are trying to hold on to our sanity....

Oh ...you wanna break it to her about this sanity issue, or should I? ;> First, she limits the imagination by throwing out the most fun stuff, then she assumes we are sane...Where have you been, my friend? :)

Joe, who knows his history to the most interesting detail, and looks pretty good in uniform, could go to somewhere like Gettysburg and do tour guides in character during the day and write in his spare time. He would be able to live his dream and fulfill the best of two fantasies. :)

Sue and I were thinking of contracting to perform the financial statement reviews for our current employer at an exhorbitant price, since there won't be anyone left to do them. I know, it's been done before, but our employer hasn't quite learned from all of its mistakes. Actually, it would be a raise in pay for both of us. One year is all we need.

In addition, we could have a dance competition costume business for those not artistically inclined or without time. We have a quite talented designer in our office, so we could incorporate one more person. Just an artistic/creative outlet...you can only review so many financial statements at a time before you need a distraction. Oh, you've probably noticed that already. :)

Bill is already pushing the pizza thing in all seriousness, although like a typical German, he can think of enough stuff to occupy 20 of the hours in a day for me, but not for himself. I baulk at the highly labor intensive nature and low profit margins to be obtained in such an endeavor. Frankly, I never have liked my hobbies to become work...takes the fun completely out of them.

In actuality, I have never fully decided what I want to be when I grow up...my list of "Not gonna go there in this lifetime if I can help it" is fairly lengthy, though. :) Still pondering...

If ever you decide to change careers, please consider applying for the position left vacant by Irma Bombeck. You are way too cool!
I think this Irma Bombeck thing will work! Carlene, do you need an agent?
