Flight Control Department

USS Grail

What is Flight Control?

The Flight Control department is responsible for moving the Grail through space. The most important function of this department is manning the flight control station, also called the Helm or Conn, where the courses are plotted and the engines controlled. But Flight Control is also responsible for managing the Starcharts, upkeeping the navigational shields (which protect the ship from space debris while travelling at high speeds) and the engine control circuits. The engines themselves are the responsibility of engineering.

A Helmsman must have a wide knowledge of Starcharts for plotting courses and a good understanding of the relation between warp, time and space. Also, a helmsman must be familiar with all battle maneuvers, both offensive and defensive, and be able to execute them swiftly and without error regardless of the situation.

Flight Control is currently headed by Lt. Alison Donucci, a beautiful and confident terran woman. Her assistant is François DeMontigny, a new arrival on the Grail.
