How to Conjugate er Verbs in the Present Indicative Tense
The verbs ending in er are the most common in the French language. Most are regular, but there are a few exceptions, such as aller (to go). But let's take a regular er verb to conjugate. The verb trouver, which means "to find".
Je trouve
Je means "I". This means, I find OR I'm finding. With the form je, you take er off of the infinitive(trouver), and add an e, to give you "trouve". This is pronounced, troov.
Tu trouves
Tu means "you". This means, you find OR you're finding. With the form tu, you take the er off of trouver, and add an es, to give you "trouves". The pronunciation is the same as je.
Il/Elle trouve
Il means "he" OR in some cases "it"(in this case, il cannot be used). This means, he finds OR he's finding, she finds OR she's finding. With the forms il/elle, you do the same as je, which is to drop the er and add back the e, giving you "trouve". The pronunciation is the same as je also.
Nous trouvons
Nous means "we". This means we find OR we're finding. With the form nous, you drop the er off of trouver, and add ons, to give you "trouvons". This is pronounced, troovon.
Vous trouvez
Vous means "y'all" OR in some cases, you use vous to respect someone. If you were addressing the President of France, you would say, "Comment allez-vous?", which means "how are you", formally, that is. This means y'all find OR y'all are finding or is used in the formal aspect. With the form vous, you drop the er off of trouver and add an ez, to give you "trouvez". This is pronounced, troovay.
Ils/Elles trouvent
Ils means "they"(masculine), used when referring to a group of males and also to refer to a group of boys and girls. Elles means "they"(feminine), referring to a group of girls. This means they find OR they're finding. With the forms ils and elles, you drop the er and add ent, to give you "trouvent". The pronunciation is the same as je, leaving the ent silent and sounding like, troov.
