GRIEVING

You made me promise not to shed a tear
But you will never know how much you're missed
Nor how hard 'tis to smile without you here.
'Tis a promise I'm finding hard to keep.

Pieces of me went with you to your graves
Losses that have consumed me with much grief
I no longer have your warm, loving hugs
To pull me out of the darkness I'm in.

I miss the strength that your presence gave me
As I get weaker with each passing day
I long for the comfort you made me feel
As the pain is getting too much to bear.

Days are getting harder with each sunrise
and are growing colder with each sunset.
I no longer feel warmth from the sun's rays
just the cold, darkness surrounding my soul.
