Rose: this reminds me of the only bar in St. olaf owned by the half man/half horse.

Blanche: please rose, no more stories.

Rose: not even one about me and Charlie dancing with the pigs in the bar before they threw us out and told us not to come any more.

Dorothy: NO!

(Scene 3) while Rose, Blanche and Dorothy start talking about different things. Woody Boyd swings over the bar to say hi.

Woody: hi my name is Woody Boyd. I'm the bar tender and I over heard someone talking about a place called St. olaf?

Rose: that was me! Why? do you know it?

Woody: no but it sounds like Indiana, where I grew up. I'd love to tell you about my uncle lefty who keeps loosing his leg so he used a plunger to dance.

rose: oh really that sounds neat.

Blanche to Dorothy: my god it's like they are soul mates. Look I just saw the cutest guy over at the bar. I'm going to show him the best women in the world.

Dorothy: thanks blanche for thinking of me but I think you are a little more qualified that me. You have cheap written all over you.

(Scene 4) rose and woody are talking while blance is off talking with someone Dorothy is alone until she hears Diane chambers talk about writing a book.

Dorothy: HI my name is Dorothy zbornak. I heard that you a writer. what is your name?

Diane: my name is Diane chambers and I'm not just a writer I'm a novelist.

Dorothy: can I be the judge of that. I'm an English teacher and I would love to see some of your work.

(Diane gives Dorothy a manuscript of something she wrote months ago)

Dorothy: your sentences are kind of fractured and your words seem to be flat.

Diane: who are you to judge me. I'm a writer and you might be in the wrong profession.

Dorothy: well I didn't want to offend you but you need to do some work on it. Maybe we could do it together one day before I leave.

Diane: OK.

Dorothy: why do you work in a bar if you want to be a writer.

Diane: it''s only temporary.

As Carla passes by: yea temporary for the last 6 years.

Dorothy: I really do have to leave now but I'll call you some time. OK.

Diane: OK nice to meet you.

(Blanche is at the bar talking to the bartender Sam Malone)

Blanche: my name is Blanche Devereaux.

Sam: my name is Sam Malone. You look kind of old to date me.

Blanche: I'm only 38.

Sam: yea sure. You don't look a day before 60.

Blanche: I'm 55. OK.

Sam: OK I'll believe that.

Blanche: would you consider a date?

Sam: no your older than me. I only date the young ones. but I like to talk to nice older folks like you and your friends.

Blanche: well I do have to go. Bye see you someday. same: bye

(As blanche and Dorothy go to get rose, she's talking to woody and laughing.)

Rose: oh yea I can top that. We has a hearing juggling act. one false move and they would have feleted themselves.

Woody: oh I can beat that, for a bachelor party we used to dress up farm animals in women's clothing.

Dorothy: well I hate to interrupt this intellectual convocation but rose we have to go if we want to wake up early for the gallery.

Woody: rose I would be honored to be your date for it.

Rose: great we can talk about our home town all the way to it and back.

Dorothy: woody you can pick rose up and follow us so we don't go crazy hearing her stories.

Woody: OK but you don't know what your missing. Her stories are so fascinating.

Dorothy: yea sure in another world. Bye everyone I'll see you tomorrow woody.

(then they left.)
