SCENE 1 (In the living room of the Ladies House in Miami)

Blanche: (Walks in the front door) Heres the mail. Dorathy, from San Fransisco, and Rose, and Sophia, and this is mine.

Rose: Dorathy, what did you get from San Fransisco?

Dorathy: I don't know! I haven't opend it you nit wit!

Rose: Sorry!

Dorathy: (Opening the letter) Its from Marian. My high school friend who is a High School English teacher in San Fransisco. She wants me to substitute for her for two weeks while she is out for a cosmetic operation. Figures!

Blanche: Come to think of it, I could use on myself!

Dorathy: Don't even go there Blanche!

Sophia: What about the job? Are you taking it?

Dorathy: Well considering Marian's position, I don't have a choice!

Rose: Do you want to.

Dorathy: Yes actually.

Blanche: When do we leave and how do we get there?

Dorathy: Two days and Marian enclosed 4 Airline Tickets.

Sophia: Well, we better get ready now!

SCENE 2 (Two days later in the living room)

Dorathy: Lets go! we are late!

(Blanche and Rose walk out of the kitchen and Sophia comes out from her room)

Sophia: Makes me remeber my last vacation!

Rose: What was it?

Sophia: HERE! This is the first I have been from Sicilly!

Dorathy: COME ON!

SCENE 3 (At the San Fransisco Airport)

Marian: Dorathy? Dorathy Patrillo? Is that you?

Dorathy: Marian! Good to see you dear!

(They hug)

Marian: Thank you for taking my job for two weeks!

Dorathy: No problem. These are my friends Rose and Blanche and....

Marian: Mrs. Patrillo! Sophia?

Sophia: Hi.

Blanche: Nice to meet you!

Rose: A pleasure. As they said back in St. Olaf where I come from....

Dorathy: Shut up Rose! Don't mind her.

Marian: (Walking off with them) I have found you a Hotel and here is how the School Schedual works...

SCENE 4 (At the High School in the office)

Dorathy: Are you Principal Williams?

Principal Williams: Thats me.

Dorathy: I am Dorathy Zbornack. I am the substitute 10th Grade English Teacher for Marian Smith.

Principal Williams: I am Julie Williams. Welcome to our school Ms. Zbornack! (Shakes hands with her) I will show you to your room. You Classes are 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 8th Periods. The other two are planning and breaks where all of us teachers retreat to the Faculty Lounge while the Childeran are taking their elective classes such and Art, Physical Education, and Music. Here is the room.

Dorathy: Thank you.

Principal Williams: If you need anything, the Attendance Office is down the hall. Have a nice day.

Dorathy: Thank you. Goodbye.

(The Bell Rings and a group of students)

Dorathy: OK. Ladies and Gentleman, can we please take our seats? Right away please? Thank you?

(The Students take their seats)

Dorathy: My name is Mrs. Zbornack and I will be filling in for Mrs. Smith for the next two weeks. I do have a few simple rules. One, No Gum or Candy, Two, Be on time with the proper materials, and Three don't talk while I am talking and raise your hand to speak. That is all. Now, I am going to take role. Please say here when I call your name. Charles Jones.

Charles: Here.

Dorathy: Rickey Johnson

Rickey: Here.

Dorathy: Rebeaca Stevens.

Rebeaca: Here.

Dorathy: Stephanie Tanner.

Stephanie: Here.

SCENE FIVE (Three days Later on in Class)

Dorathy: So, what do you think the Author is trying to express in the Story? Stephanie?

Stephanie: Well, I think he is saying that the boy is...oh...MAD!

Dorathy: Why do you say that?

Stephanie: Well, he is upseat that he just...oh...

Dorathy: Stephanie, do you understand the story?

Stephanie: Oh, not really.

A Group of Students: HAHAHA!!!!! (Laughing)

Dorathy: Excuse me! That will be about enough back there! Stephanie? Can you see me after class?

Stephanie: What did I do?!

Dorathy: Nothing, just see me after.

SCENE SIX (After Class)

(Students are leaving the room)

Dorathy: Sit down Stephanie.

(Dorathy pulls up a chair next to Stephanie's Desk)

Dorathy: Stephanie, I notice that you have been having a little trouble with thease horrer stories that Mrs. Smith has assighned us to read.

Stephanie: I know. I never have understood Horrer very well. I used to but it is getting harder.

Dorathy: Do you need help? I can help you if you need it.

Stephanie: Mrs. Zbornack, I am fine. Well...

Dorathy: Ok, I'll tell you what. Why don't we set up a time when I can help you study?

Stephanie: OK. When?

Dorathy: I have meetings after school so how about if I come over to your house? Is that alright?

Stephanie: Great! Thanks Mrs. Zbornack. I will tell my father you are coming.

Dorathy: Good, I'll write you a pass to get into your next class.

Stephanie: Thanks!

Dorathy: Your welcome. Here you go.

Stephanie: Bye.

(Stephanie leaves)

SCENE SEVEN (Back at the Hotel in the Ladies room) (Dorathy walks in)

Rose: Hi Dorathy!

Dorathy: Hello Rose.

Rose: How was school today?

Dorathy: Fine. But I have to go soon. I am going over to one of my student's houses to tutor her in English.

(Blanche walks in)

Blanche: Hi Dorathy! Bye Dorathy!

(Dorathy walks out)

Dorathy: Goodbye Blanche.

Blanche: Where was she off to in such a hurry?

Rose: Tutoring one of her students.

SCENE EIGHT (The living room at the Tanner's House)

Danny: Hi Stephanie. Is your teacher still coming?

Stephanie: Yes. She should be here any moment.

Danny: Great! I want to meet her.

(The Door Bell Rings)

Stephanie: I guess thats Mrs. Zbornack.

(Stephanie opens the door)

Dorathy: Hello Stephanie!

Stephanie: Hi Mrs. Zbornack. This is my Dad.

Dorathy: Hello! I am Dorathy Zbornack.

Danny: Danny Tanner. Nice to meet you. I'll leave you two to work. Mrs. Zbornack, would you like anything to drink?

Dorathy: I am fine. Thank you.

Danny: Your Welcome.

Dorathy: Ok Stephanie. Get out your text book and turn to page 103. Now here we have....

SCENE NINE (Later on in the evening at the Tanner's house)

Danny: Thank you so much for helping Stephanie.

Dorathy: Oh, there was nothing to it. I have 3 friends I help all the time. Those for instance, I help her all the time. If I weren't there, she wouldn't have much help at all. Although, she works for a TV Company and that helps her.

Danny: She does? I work for a TV Company too. I am on the talk show "Wake up San Fransisco." I need a Co-host fill in for one day. Do you think she would be interested?

Dorathy: She doesn't actually appear on the air but I will see. Danny: In fact, tomorrow night, why don't you and your friends come over for dinner and I can talk to Rose. Ok?

Dorathy: Alright. Goodbye. And, Stephanie? Keep up the good work.

Stephanie: Thanks Mrs. Zbornack.

Dorathy: Bye. (She leaves)

SCENE TEN (At School the next day)

(The Bell Rings and Dorathy walks into a crowd of talking students lounging around)

Dorathy: All right everyone! Lets get right to it! We've got alot of work to do today and we can get it all finnished and have no homework that is if you cooperate. Now, open your books to page 103 and someone tell me about last nights story. Stephanie, why don't you give it a try?

Stephanie: He is upseat about the fact that he well...Mrs. Zbornack, I still don't understand.

Dorathy: Thats alright, can you stick around after class?

Stephanie: Alright.

Dorathy: Now...

SCENE ELEVEN (After Class)

Dorathy: Stephanie, I just wanted to tell you that I will be at your house to tutor tonight.

Stephanie: OK. Thanks.

Dorathy: Bye.

SCENE TWELVE (At the Tanner's House)

(The Door bell rings and DJ answers)

DJ: Hello.

Dorathy: Hi. We are here to see your father, Mr. Tanner?

DJ: Dad?!

(Danny walks in)

Danny: Hi! Come on in ladies.

Blanche: Thank you!

Dorathy: Mr. Tanner, this is my Mother Sophia Patrillo.

Danny: Hi Mrs. Patrillo.

Sophia: Hello.

Dorathy: This is Blanche.

Blanche: How do you do?

Danny: Hi, nice to see you.

Dorathy: And this is Rose Nylund.

Danny: Rose! Just the woman I wanted to see.

Rose: Oh, Goodie! What did you want to see. My head? Or hair? Or...

Dorathy: SHUT UP ROSE!

Danny: Oh, no. (Starts laughing) I wanted to see you about Wake up San Fransisco!

Rose: Oh! That!

Danny: Yes, that.

Rose: I beg your pardon (Starts laughing) I knew that.

Danny: (Laughs). Now... here...

Dorathy: Hello Stephanie!

Stephanie: Oh, Hi Mrs. Zbornack.

Dorathy: Do you have your books.

Stephanie: Sure. Lets go up to my room. I have a table in there where we can work.

Dorathy: Sure.

(Stephanie and Dorathy go upstairs and into the halway see DJ)

Stephanie: DJ, this is my Substitute English teacher and tutor, Mrs. Zbornack.

DJ: Hello.

Stephanie: Mrs. Zbornack is in for Mrs. Smith.

DJ: Oh! I remember her class. It was fun!

Dorathy: Mrs. Smith and I were in High School togeather.

DJ: I see.

(Dorathy and Stephanie go into Stephanie and Michelle's Room)

Michelle: Steph, who is this?

Stephanie: This is my English Tutor, Mrs. Zbornack. She is substuting for Mrs. Smith.

Michelle: Uh, huh.

(Michelle Walks out)

Dorathy: Was that your sister?

Stephanie: Yes. Now, here is my trouble spot, I don't see....

SCENE THIRTEEN (In the Tanner's Living Room)

Danny: So can you come tomorrow?

Rose: Yes, I would be honored.

(Beckey walks in)

Beckey: Hi Danny.

Danny: Hi Becky. I found a fill in for you tomorrow since you are taking the day off.

Beckey: Oh, great. Who?

Danny: Meet, Rose Nylund.

Beckey: Hello Rose. I am glad you can fill in tomorrow!

Rose: Nice to meet you. I am glad I can help!

Beckey: Thanks.

(Nickey and Alex walk in with Jessie)

Beckey: Hi dear! Rose, this is my husband Jessie and my sons Nickey and Alex. They are the reason I am taking off, so I can go and see their new preschool tomorrow.

Rose: Hello.

Jessie: Hi. I am glad you can fill in for Beckey tomorrow.

(Jessie Takes the twins upstairs)

SCENE FOURTEEN (At dinner at the Tanner's)

Sophia: Danny, this is good chicken.

Danny: Thanks.

Sophia: Yeah, I do most of the cooking back home in Miami.

Danny: Do you?

Sophia: Yeah and its darn good too. I don't see any other cooks at this table.

Dorathy: MA! How do you know that?

Sophia: I was talking about Blanche, Rose, and you!

Dorathy: Oh, Ma! Thats not true!

Sophia: Well I am sure that little Michelle over here could cook better than those lousy cooks at Shadey Pines!

Michelle: (Gives her a confused look) Is that so?

Dorathy: STOP IT MA!

(Joey walks in and sits down)

Danny: Blanche, Rose, Sophia, Dorathy? This is Joey Gladstone, our friend.

Rose, Blanche, Dorathy, and Sophia: Nice to meet you!

Joey: Same here!

Blanche: A pleasure as always. You know, I just love meeting men, even the young. I just gives me the good feeling of Security. Uh huh yeah like a....

Dorathy: BLANCHE!!!!!!!!!! WILL YOU SHUT UP?

DJ: I like men too, Blanche. But other times they can drive me nuts. But I don't see how a pretty woman like you can't be over passed by a man.

Blanche: Aw, well Thank you!

DJ: Your Welcome. (Smiles)

SCENE FIFTEEN (In the Tanner's Living room)

Blanche: Thank you for having us over.

Danny: Oh, it was no problem! I am glad that I got things set up with Rose and Dorathy had an opportunity to meet with Stephanie.

Rose: Thanks.

Sophia: It was sure good food.

(Stephanie and Dorathy Come down stairs)

Stephanie: I FINALLY FIGURE THIS OUT!!!

Danny: Steph, thats wonderful!

Stephanie: And its all because of Mrs. Zbornack!

Dorathy: Not me, I was only helping you through it. See, you were able to figure it on your own!

Stephanie: Oh, Thank you! But...Really?

Dorathy: Yes. Stephanie, you knew it all along! I just helped you find the right spot.

Stephanie: Oh, Thanks! Must you Go back to Miami on Friday?

Dorathy: I am afraid so.

Stephanie: I wish you could stay! You are such a great teacher.

Dorathy: Oh, thank you.

(The ladies are getting ready to step out the door...)

Stephanie: Mrs. Zbornack?

Dorathy: Yes?

Stephanie: (Puts out her arms but then pulls them back and little and gives and happy but yet puzzled look).

Dorathy: (She turns and Smiles and they hug)

Stephanie: Thanks.

Dorathy: Thats what teachers are for aren't they?
