Mickey and Friends

Before you jump to any conclusions, this is not a page just for kids. This is a page for everyone. The images I've chosen represent some of the friends in popular fiction. Whether it is Timon and Pumba, from the Lion King, or Chip and Dale; these characters represent true friends.

As all of us know, friends come in all shapes and sizes.*S* They aren't just the people we go to school with, or the people we socialize with. Friends are brothers, sisters, parents, boyfriends, or girlfriends; just to name a few. We find friends in all aspects of our lives. This is a good thing.*S*

This page is for friends.*S* Not just my friends, but friends everywhere. Of course, I can only name my friends here. If seeing this page, and reading what I have written makes you think about a friend, then I say, "good".*S* Phone them, write them, send them an e-mail. Just let them know that you're thinking about them.

Here then are some of my friends. Some are real life friends, some are people I've met on line. That is something that has really made a difference in my life. My computer and the net. I never thought that friends that I've met on line could ever be as important as real life friends. How wrong I was. There are a few special people whom I have never met in real life, but because of the internet, they have become an integral part of my life.

So, without further ado, here they are; my friends. I hope you love them as much as I do.*S*

I found this a little while ago. I think it illustrates a very valuable aspect of friendship that we might not otherwise see. Check it out, and I'm sure you will see my point.

Never Underestimate

Shannon

Shannon is my newest online friend. In the short time that we have known each other, she has become one of my closest friends too. The whole story is extremely interesting actually. We met on line completely by chance. It was her open ways and her sense of humor that first caught my eye. We began sending e-mail to each other. As the frequency of our letters increased, we started to learn more about each other. Only makes sense, doesn't it? *L* As I got to know Shannon better, our friendship has just taken off. The amazing part of all of this is that we live only minutes apart. We haven't met in person yet, but that is coming one day really soon, I hope. *S* I guess that isn't entirely true either. We have met before. It took a while to realize it, but before we "met" on line, we had actually met in real life. Of course we didn't know each other at the time. It was only recently as we learn more about each other, that we learned the truth. Quite a coincidence, isn't it? *S*
I'm not really sure where this will all lead, although I know I really hope that this will develop into something more. *S* At the moment though, I am content with the way that things are. Shannon is an absolutely wonderful friend. She is warm, sensitive, and caring. She has opened up to me in a way that makes me feel really special, while still maintaining a certain air of mystery about herself. She has the most delightful sense of humor. It is quick, extremely sharp, and a little twisted at times. I for one find that extremely attractive and refreshing. *S* She has two children, and even though we haven't known each other very long, I get the distinct impression that she is a dedicated and loving mother. She seems to have a very special relationship with her kids. Being both parent and friend. If you knew Shannon, you would see what I mean immediately. She talks about her children frequently, full of pride and respect for them.
I look forward to getting to know Shannon better as she is a very unique individual. She never fails to bring a smile to my face, or a laugh to my heart. *S* She is a very special woman to me.
A quick update here. I just met Shannon for coffee. I can now tell you all that it is possible for on line friendships to cross over into real life. So any of you that have wondered about it, it can work. It was great, and it only reinforced my feelings for her. She is absolutely incredible. *S*

Serena

Some of you may know Serena by the handle, "Roper". We have known each other for about 5 years now. As some of you may know, we were a couple for a short time, but unfortunately that ended recently. I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression here either. It just wasn't working, and we decided that it would be for the best if we ended that relationship. We are still very close, and I hope that it stays that way.*S* Serena was one of the driving forces behind my first foray into the world of the internet. She introduced me to chat rooms, where I am happy to say, I met some people who have become very dear friends. I will always have that to thank her for. She is a fun loving, energetic type of person, who enjoys life to the best of her ability. She has had many ideas for my home page, and I value her input. Even though the tone of our relationship has changed, she will always have a special place in my life, and my heart.

Check out her first home page at Roper's Place.

Reneé

Reneé is one of my best on-line friends. She is the first person that I met on the net. It is because of her that I have this home page. Her constant help and guidance has been a tremendous help in getting this thing up and running. At times it is really hard to keep in touch, as the demands of day to day life are felt. Never the less, we try to stay in touch, whether it is through e-mail, or ICQ. Hearing from Reneé always brings a smile to my face.*S* It is sometimes hard to remember that we have only known each other a short time. We have shared so much, that it feels like we have been friends for ever. I can't even begin to explain how much it means to me to have a friend like this. Reneé, if you are reading this, I just want to say thanks again, for everything. I am glad to have you for a friend.*HUGS*

Drop in and see Reneé at a shy angel's place.

Michelle

I met Michelle a little while after I got on the net. Like Reneé, I met Michelle in Healthy Choice Chat. Chat rooms are great places to meet people on line. Michelle, in the short time I have known her, has become a very near and dear friend. She is a constant source of support and inspiration. She is a single mom, with a great son. Michelle not only spends as much time as she can with her son, but also works, and is going to school. A paralegal program no less.WOW!!!! I really don't know where she finds the time. We have talked on the phone occasionally, so it is possible for friendships to cross over from the net into real life. Not that net friends are any less real. We don't talk as often as we'd like, but that's the way it goes sometimes.*S* When it comes right down to it, I know that she is there if I need someone, and I try to be there for her as well. *GREAT BIG HUG* , and of course, *HUGS* for Chris.

Stop in and say hello to Michelle and Chris at Michelle's Place.

Carrie

Ah, the infamous Hicky, where to start? I'm slowly getting to know "The Hick Chick" *S* This could, theoretically, take a while cause she is so in demand. I kid you not. Try holding a conversation with her in a chat room. It seems that everyone else in the room has the same plans. That's all right though. Once you get to know her, you understand why. She is a straight forward kind of person. She strikes me, not literally *S* of course, as a happy go lucky sort. She seems to always have time for her friends. Generally interested in how they are doing. I am also starting to get to know the personal side of Carrie. Personally I think she is a little twisted at times. That's O.K., cause I am most of the time too. Too sum it all up, Hicky is a great friend, and a wonderful person. She even has kind words for Jamal. For those of you who have met him, you know how hard this can be. It takes a special kind of person. I'm glad to finally be getting the chance to know her better.

Sheldon

Sheldon is a good friend that I met a couple of years ago at work. I'm not sure if any of you have ever experienced that sense of sameness on first meeting someone. You know imediately that here is someone just like you. That's the way it was with Sheldon. The first time I met his wife, she commented to me that Sheldon had said that we were very much alike. She didn't pay much attention to it, and passed it off as a casual remark. Now that she had the chance to meet me, it was scary.*S* In a good way though. Sheldon and his family have since moved away, looking for a new start. We keep in touch regularly. Some times it almost feels like a part of me is missing. I'm just glad to know that he's happy where he is, and they still think about me too. Every one should have a friend like Sheldon.

Dana

The leather lady.*S* What can I say. I've known Dana for a few years now. She is a really great gal. Another individual with a really sick and twisted sense of humor.*S* There is that duck thing though.*LOL* Seriously though, Dana is a great friend, and although we don't see each other too often, we do try to keep in touch. Maybe one of these days, she will get a home page too.*hint, hint*

Sheryl and Les

There is actually a really interesting story behind my friendship with these two.*S* I have known Sheryl since she was about 6 or 7 years old. I won't say how long that has been, because that would give away more information than I'm at liberty to.*S* Way back then, she was just the younger sister of a school friend. It wasn't until she was about 15 that our friendship really started to develop. Knowing her though, has given me the chance for me to watch as she grew from " the annoying kid sister" (sorry sheryl*S*) into the young woman she is today. The part I find fascinating is all the steps along the way. Most of my friends today, with one or two exceptions, I know only as adults. I have heard stories of childhood, but wasn't there to experience it myself.

Knowing someone for most of my life, and most of theirs, gives me a totally different perspective. I have seen Sheryl grow from a young child into the talented and beautiful young woman that she is today. I feel that a special kind of bond exists between us. We have shared so many memories together, both good and bad, that she will always have a special place in my heart, and my life.

We lost track of each other when I moved away, and were out of contact for a number of years. Thanks to ICQ, we found each other again. Much to my surprise, I find that she is now married. *Okay, I admit, I'm not really surprised at all.*S** Sheryl has a wonderful husband, Les. Even though we only know each other over the net, he has accepted me as a friend whole-heartedly. Here again, we don't get the chance to chat as ofter as I'd like, but that's the way it goes. I really want to get to know this guy. Anyone who makes a friend of mine this happy, has got to be a decent sort, and definitely worth knowing.*S*

As our friendship continues to grow, I feel confidant that the physical distance between us will only make the time we spend talking that much more special. I look forward to many more years together.*HUGS to both of you*

Under Construction

If you don't see your name on this page, it probably means that I haven't finished yet. It doesn't mean that I've forgotten you. There is no real order to this page either. No one is more or less important than any one else.
