Some would say her miracle was living a full year after her diagnosis and treatment for lung cancer. I think her miracle was the way she loved people and looked for the best in them. Once she could see it, she strived to make them see it, too.
Her last breath on earth was hard fought. She traveled the path to heaven with concern for her loved ones she'd left behind. I think she crossed the threshold with some relief, as her final time had been full of pain and helplesness.
I will SO miss her but I know she is now at peace. Her arthritic knees and hips no longer ache. She can walk or even run without pain. Her fingers work nimbly in and out as she swiftly crochets. Her lungs are whole and working so she has the energy to play her beautiful music on God's pipe organ. Her heart beats strong and steady so she can walk effortlessly up the stairs and onto the pier to throw her fishing line in the water. Her eyes now see perfectly as she pushes the buttons to rescue the princess on the Nintendo games she loved to play. Her arms strongly knead the Butterhorn dough as she makes the rolls that became a family tradition.
As she lifts her face twords the light, she sees her mother, father, brothers and sisters and her only son. She is not alone here. The only sorrow she feels is for tears of the loved ones still on earth. She knows that they are not crying for her, but for all that they will long to share with her, all they will have to go through without her. She knows that they will continue on and that, one day, we will all be together again.
Ahead she sees a beautiful rose garden, like the one she so lovingly tended on earth. The deep red of the Don Juan, the yellow and orange of the Tropicana, the sweet pink of the roses on the back yard fence all greet her. A gentle figure sits in the shade of a tree. He becons her to come closer and she finds herself enveloped in the loving arms of her teacher, Savior and true friend, Jesus Christ. She, who so loved the Word of God and believed in it's truth, now can sit with Him and listen to His joyous, comforting words.

It has been almost 14 years since our mother fell alseep. The pain has diminshed somewhat. Her grandchildren have grown up, gone on to college and off to begin families of their own. Her daughters have learned to live without her loving daily guidence.
But everyday we miss her. And everyday we wish she was still here to be with us. We know she is loving us still as we are still loving her. And someday we will all be together again. What a great day that will be!
Eight years and one day later her beloved Harvey, our dad, followed her to his rest. He had missed her so much he could hardly stand it. They are together now, waiting for us.
